A Closer Look at Her Lip Tattoo Adventure
Kathy Griffin, the famous 62-year-old comedian known for her sharp wit and fearless humor, recently left her fans stunned with a bold and unconventional decision – to get a lip tattoo. Celebrated for her reality series “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List,” the Primetime Emmy Award winner shared a rare behind-the-scenes look at the artistic endeavor on her YouTube channel in a video titled “I GOT MY LIPS TATTOOED.”
The video shows Kathy Griffin, who has always been known for pushing boundaries, as she embarks on this transformational journey. She strolls through the parking lot wearing a self-portrait T-shirt that says “Officially-Uncelled,” sending the message that she’s not one to shy away from controversy or unconventional choices.
Kathy Griffin’s lip tattoo reads:
This was possibly a reference to the 2017 incident in which she posed for pictures with a bleeding replica of former President Donald Trump’s skull.
“Secondly, I’m going to get my lips tattooed, but they call it blushing, and I’m also going to get my eyebrows microbladed because I didn’t do enough last time. We’ll see,” she noted eagerly. as she was heading to a meeting.
The “Search Party” star walked into the esthetician’s office and stretched out on the padded exam table. She was prepared for the microblading procedure, which involves implanting pigment permanently under the surface of the skin to enhance features such as lips and eyebrows, creating the appearance of semi-permanent makeup.
Griffin was then seen having a barrier material placed around her lips to prevent any pigment from transferring to nearby skin in a subsequent scene in the film.
“Are you ready not to talk for three hours?” asked the practitioner as Griffin pointed to the camera.
Griffin raised her head briefly from the table and opened her eyes in mock surprise.
They then taped a plastic sheet over her mouth that appeared to contain a numbing agent to make the procedure painless.
Now that everything was ready, the esthetician used a tattoo gun to paint Griffin’s lips a striking shade of crimson. Griffin can later be seen unwinding in the film with an ice pack on her freshly inked lips as she prepares her eyebrows for tattooing.
When Griffin arrived home, the camera panned to her, showing her husband, marketing executive Randy Bick, her slightly swollen lips. She smiled and greeted him saying, “I’m back from the lip tattoo!”
The big reveal was caught on camera when Griffin showed her friend, “3rd Rock from the Sun” actress Kristen Johnston, her newly colored lips.
What did you do? Johnston shouted. It is not true. Griffin jokingly replied:
“Well, Kristen believes it’s obvious. We’re going to be in the Fourth of July parade, though. I don’t think anyone will be able to tell.”
After four to six days, Griffin’s face fully recovered from the microblading and reddening procedures. Her lips were a soft, natural pink color.
As one person wrote in the comments, “I was worried about you at first, but the end result looks amazing!”, people were amazed by what they witnessed. You look nice, Kathy.
It’s been too long so I’m really glad to see you again.
Another said: “It turned out fantastic! They were a bit worried at first but it was most likely swelling. You made a wise decision!”
In the world of show business, where appearance is often the center of attention, Kathy’s decision to undergo such a transformation reminds us that beauty can be an art form, a canvas for self-expression, and a reflection of one’s personality. And in true Kathy Griffin style, she shared this journey with her fans, inviting them to witness the process and ultimately the amazing results.

It’s a lesson we can all appreciate and celebrate in our own lives, whether we choose to get lip tattoos or not.
It seems that what appeared to be a surprising circumstance was pre-planned!
