No family should ever have to experience the tragic story of Landon Raber.
A 6-year-old boy with autism from Virginia who was non-verbal went missing over the weekend and was later found dead.
Tragic news claims that Landon “Waldy” Raber has been found in a small pond on the property where he went missing.
Although it was not the desired or expected outcome, the Buckingham County Emergency Services Department posted on Facebook that they would like to thank everyone who helped with the search throughout the evening and night.
This includes the VSP, all of Buckingham’s volunteer fire departments, BCDES, representatives from various other districts, and staff from other volunteer fire departments. However, they are not the only ones.
The agency asked that people think of the family and respect their privacy during this terrible time.
At 8:45 p.m. Sunday, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, Virginia State Police, and the Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office launched a search after receiving a report of Landon’s disappearance.
The reasons for the disappearance of the 6-year-old child are still unknown.
The cause of death was not immediately clear.
After the tragedy, Landon’s family held a memorial service to honor their son.
‘Waldy’ Raber’s beautiful life will be remembered here,’ said a statement on the event’s Facebook page.
His short life had such an impact on so many people and they want to take this opportunity to express their condolences and mourn as a group – as a community, as friends, as family!
The tragedy of Landon’s death should serve as a reminder of the importance of vigilance when it comes to the safety of children, especially those with special needs. It is essential to put measures in place to ensure children are safe and protected and have the support they need to thrive.
