An Ultimate Laptop for Business and Everyday Use
The new Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 is the latest in the company’s ThinkPad X1 line of ultrabooks. It’s slimmer than its predecessors and lighter too, weighing in at 3.04 pounds, but it’s still packed with all the features of previous versions including ports like USB-C and Thunderbolt 3, a stylus called the ThinkPad Pen Pro, and your choice of 12- or 14-inch touchscreens. Here’s our complete review of this excellent 2-in-1 ultrabook!

The Lenovo Thinkpad x1 yoga gen 7 has been excellent so far. It’s clear that Lenovo focused on improving its product through reviews, as it was one of their lowest-rated laptops in previous years. The most notable differences are listed here.
The Lenovo Thinkpad x1 yoga gen 7 specs include an 12th generation i7 processor, 32GB ram, 512GB SSD storage, and a 1920 x 1200 Pixels touchscreen display. In addition to being thinner and lighter than last year’s model, Lenovo also made some performance improvements over previous models.
One of my favorite features is how quickly it boots up; I can be ready to work within 15 seconds of pressing the power button from sleep mode. Another nice touch is that Lenovo included two batteries with the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 review unit, allowing me to use one while charging another or swap out for a fresh battery if needed. Let’s dive into the detailed review of it.
Price & Configurations
The ThinkPad x1 yoga Gen 7 is available in three different configurations. The basic model comes with a 12th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of memory, 512GB SSD, and an integrated graphics card with Intel HD Graphics 520. Pricing for that model starts at $1,978.99 USD.
There’s also a mid-range configuration that bumps you up to an Intel Core i7 CPU, 32GB of RAM, and 512GB SSD for $1,979.99 USD; as well as a high-end configuration with an Intel Core i7 CPU, 32GB of RAM, 1TB SSD and discrete NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics for $2,095.99 USD. All models come preloaded with Windows 11 Pro. Overall, it’s worth the price tag!
Build and Feel
The build quality is superb, and you feel that you’re using a high-end machine. There’s no flex in any part of the chassis, and it feels very solid in your hands. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 makes an excellent impression right on your first touch.
It doesn’t matter if it is your first time with a 2-in-1 laptop or not; you will appreciate just how good its design feels in your hands. You can also tell that Lenovo put extra effort into making sure everything looks great. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 has a matte finish, which helps to hide smudges and fingerprints.
You can easily see fingerprints on glossy surfaces, so having such a great finish here is definitely appreciated by anyone who cares about aesthetics. In fact, I would say that Lenovo did a better job than Apple when it comes to hiding smudges and fingerprints from use. This is probably due to Lenovo’s choice of materials: aluminum instead of glass.
The display quality of Lenovo’s Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen 7 is simply outstanding. It uses an IPS screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200, which results in a pixel density of 275 ppi. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 comes with a 14-inch IPS display that supports 10 touch points at once.
That means you can do things like pinch to zoom and swipe through pages with ease. The display covers a wide sRGB color gamut, and it features Dolby Vision technology for enhanced multimedia content playback. It also has a built-in ambient light sensor that allows you to automatically adjust brightness levels depending on your environment.
In addition, there’s a built-in microphone and HD webcam that lets you video chat with your family and friends over Skype or Google Hangouts. The display can be set up in either tent mode or tablet mode depending on your needs, and it supports multitouch input so you can easily use gestures to navigate through different apps.
Multitasking on Windows 11 Pro is also a pleasant experience thanks to Lenovo’s efficient memory management. While we’re multitasking, it’s worth pointing out that you can use two apps side by side thanks to Windows 11 Pro. Overall, the display quality is amazing on this laptop.
Keyboard and Trackpad
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 keyboard is fantastic. It has a nice feel to it and plenty of travel distance for comfortable typing. The trackpad is one of the better ones out there and responds well to touch gestures such as pinch, rotate, etc.
In fact, I prefer using Windows 11 Pro gestures over using a mouse with my laptop. The keyboard is well made and easy to type on with a quiet sound that doesn’t bother me in meetings or at night. The trackpad is comfortable and very responsive without being too sensitive.
A rubberized texture helps prevent my fingers from slipping on it while using it, even when I use wet hands. While some people may prefer a larger trackpad, I think Lenovo did an excellent job of making one that works great for most users. It has plenty of space for multi-touch gestures like two-finger scrolling and rotating photos.
Even though there are physical buttons below it, they don’t get in the way much and can be disabled if you prefer. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 is great for work and play. It’s excellent for typing up long documents with its full, natural-feeling keyboard and large trackpad.
At just 0.7 inches thick and 3.4 pounds, it’s thin enough to slip into a backpack or briefcase but heavy enough to feel like you’re getting a quality product. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 features a Microsoft Precision Touchpad, which is also found on other high-end Windows laptops.
This allows you to use gestures like pinch-to-zoom or three-finger swipe to navigate around your screen more easily. This can be disabled if you prefer to use a mouse or trackpad instead. Its 360-degree hinge lets you use it as a traditional laptop, tablet, tent, or stand.
You can even fold back one side of the screen all the way around so that it faces outwards while closed. This makes it easy to watch videos or read in bed without having to hold your arms at an awkward angle. It’s a great all-around 2-in-1 laptop.
Ports, Thunderbolt 3, ThinkPad pen
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 includes a variety of connectivity options, including two USB Type-C ports, one of which supports Thunderbolt 4; an SD card slot; and a headphone jack. (The Lenovo dock also includes three USB Type-A ports for connecting other devices.)
As mentioned, one of these ports supports Thunderbolt 3, which provides a maximum bandwidth of 40Gbps. Theoretically, you could connect two 4K monitors using DisplayPort and drive them at 60Hz simultaneously.
Lenovo includes a USB Type-C to full-size HDMI adapter in the box, so if you want to connect an external display, it’s not too much of an inconvenience. I do wish that Lenovo had included a second Thunderbolt 4 port instead of just one, as having two would allow for daisy chaining with other devices.
Still, having only one is better than none. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 includes an active digitizer with pen support, making it compatible with Lenovo’s $59 ThinkPad Pen Pro stylus. (The pen itself costs another $29.)
However, unlike some other laptops (such as Microsoft’s Surface Book), there’s no slot on the laptop where you can store it when it’s not in use. That means you either have to carry it around separately or attach it magnetically to one of your palm rests.
Software & Performance
With Windows 11 Pro, there’s little need to worry about performance issues with your laptop. However, for those who are interested in seeing how fast their system can go, there is plenty of information available.
Our Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 review unit came with an Intel i7–1260P processor at 4.7 GHz and 32 GB DDR5 of RAM to handle anything we threw at it — even 3D modeling! The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 also comes with a 512 GB SSD drive to make booting up and launching applications lightning quick.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 also has a fingerprint reader so you can quickly log into your account without typing in a password every time you start up your computer. Overall, our Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 review found that its hardware was more than capable of handling just about any task thrown at it.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 has been specifically designed to take advantage of its 3:2 aspect ratio touchscreen and all of its features. With a resounding 1920 x 1200 resolution, our Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 display was crisp and clear, allowing us to easily see even small details in high-resolution images.
Also, with a 10-point multi-touch screen, we were able to use gestures such as pinch-to-zoom on our Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 unit without any issues. Our Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 found that it was incredibly easy to navigate around Windows 11 Pro using only touch controls.
Overall, our Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 performance was excellent thanks to its powerful processor at 4.7 GHz and 32 GB DDR5 of RAM!
The audio quality of an ultrabook is important, especially when you’re using it for conference calls and other business purposes. I was really pleased with the sound from both speakers on my unit (the bottom one is used more often). It wasn’t too loud or too soft—it was perfect.
They were also clear and easy to understand, which makes a difference in a video conference call. The mic was also great; people at the other end said they could hear me clearly. You can also plug headphones into your Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 if you want to listen privately.
Audio is important when you’re in a business setting, so I was pleased to see how well my test unit performed. It didn’t give off too much or too little sound, and both speakers are clear with no distortion. The mic picked up my voice clearly as well. The audio experience on your Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 should be pleasant whether you’re listening alone or on conference calls.
Battery Life & Charging
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 is designed to last all day long. The company claims that under moderate use, it can last up to 57 hours on a single charge. But you can certainly expect between 18 and 25 hours of actual usage time while doing everyday tasks like writing emails, surfing social media, and watching Netflix.
This is one of those ultrabooks that will definitely make it through your whole workday without needing a charge. It’s also worth noting that Lenovo has included fast charging technology in its latest laptop line; if you have access to a power outlet for more than 45 minutes, you’ll be able to get about 80% battery life in just an hour or so.
That’s pretty impressive! Its battery life is one of the best features of this laptop! One of my biggest pet peeves with some ultrabooks is their short battery life.
That’s why I was really happy to see that Lenovo has made a point to include a long-lasting battery in its latest laptops. The company claims that under moderate use, it can last up to 57 hours on a single charge. That’s incredible!
Overall Verdict – Should you buy it?
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 is an excellent Windows 11 Pro 2-in-1. It has a stunning display, and excellent performance, and comes with good battery life for a 14 laptop. It’s also lightweight and durable, making it an ideal choice for business professionals on the go.
The only real drawbacks are that it doesn’t come with a dedicated GPU and it can get expensive if you don’t watch out for deals. If you want a great ultrabook for work or school, however, then we definitely recommend picking up a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7!
