Find out how a humbling experience inspired one woman to change her life, lose 136 pounds and become the greatest version of herself.
Sara Lockett had to face her size after an embarrassing event with her son and getting trapped on a slide in a nearby park. The memory of her husband having to remove her from playground equipment motivated her to take control of her life.
A 25-year-old girl weighs 252 pounds due to pregnancy, gestational diabetes, and preeclampsia.
“My diet wasn’t the best and I struggled with overeating. I ate what I could during the day and then had two dinners and a lot of snacks at night. I ate 3,000 calories a day and eat Pop-Tarts for breakfast before a burger for lunch, chicken nuggets, and a giant sweet Coke, the mother of two told The Post. Sara often serves homemade fried chicken and macaroni and cheese for dinner.
Sara naturally started losing weight after this mistake by changing her diet and exercise routine.
She described to Carter News an embarrassing episode that has always been etched in her memory: “One time my child was too scared to go down the slide alone and asked us to go down together.
I tried to continue sliding down with him, but when the slide turned I was trapped and unable to continue. My husband had to come here to get me out. My memory of that time is permanently etched. In order to get my life back, I realized I had to try something different.
After giving birth to her two children, Amelie (4 years) and Roman (2 years), the mother suffered weight loss because she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome.
As an alternative to weight loss and hormone control, doctors suggested a gastric sleeve. “I had the operation in September 2021, and luckily the insurance company covered 98% of it,” added the patient. I was conflicted about the procedure. I was quite pleased, but I also understood that it would be a mental trip during which I would have to reconcile my way of life and my relationship with food. Sara surpassed her goal weight of 153 pounds and is at 116 pounds thanks to consistent activity and dedication to a nutritious diet.
“After the procedure, I went through phases of healing. To get used to my new stomach, I had to start a liquid diet before switching to a soft food diet. Although the weight loss was encouraging, I didn’t start to notice significant improvement until six weeks after surgery when I started working out.
For lunch, the mother opts for a modest portion of rice, steamed vegetables, and ground turkey; for dinner, he prefers chicken or shrimp wrapped in lettuce leaves.
Expressing her joy at being active with her young children, Sara said: “I don’t have to worry about not being able to fit on the slide with them now.”
I feel better than I have ever felt, she exclaimed with pleasure. I can play in the park and run with my kids.
The spirited mother said that despite everything, she feels better than before and has regained control of her life.
The positive changes Sara has experienced go far beyond the numbers on the scale. She expressed an overwhelming sense of joy and fulfillment and stated that she felt better than ever. Being able to run and play with her children in the park is a testament to the newfound energy and vitality she has gained through her weight loss journey.
