‘Liver King’ Arrested in Austin After Making Strange Instagram Threats Toward Joe Rogan

Liver King Arrested After Alleged Threats Toward Joe Rogan Escalate Online and Offline

Brian Johnson—better known to millions as “Liver King”—is once again in the spotlight, but this time, it’s not for his primal lifestyle or viral carnivorous diet. The controversial fitness influencer was arrested earlier this week in Austin, Texas, following a string of increasingly aggressive online posts directed at UFC commentator and podcast host Joe Rogan.

From Public Challenge to Police Custody

It all began with what seemed like a bizarre social media stunt. Johnson posted a video challenging Rogan to a grappling match, playing into his larger-than-life persona. But what started as theatrics quickly took a darker turn. As Johnson traveled to Austin—where Rogan resides—his posts reportedly became more threatening in tone, prompting serious concern.

According to MMA Fighting, law enforcement became aware of Johnson’s travel plans and inflammatory social media activity. On June 24, 2025, the Austin Police Department issued a warrant for his arrest after reviewing videos and messages that, they said, crossed the line from provocation into criminal territory.

Charged with Terroristic Threat

Police arrested the 48-year-old at the Four Seasons Hotel on San Jacinto Boulevard, charging him with Terroristic Threat, a Class B misdemeanor under Texas law. He was later booked at Travis County Jail.

Despite the legal situation, Johnson reportedly continued posting, doubling down with a chilling statement in one of his final videos before arrest:

“We’re coming to you. I’ve challenged you man-to-man to a fight. Honorable. We don’t have to pretend or make any videos. The world is watching—they’ll make the videos for us.”

A History of Controversy

Johnson built his brand around the “Nine Ancestral Tenets,” claiming they were responsible for his muscular physique—until he later admitted to using steroids. Over time, he has attempted to land a spot on Rogan’s widely popular podcast, a wish that remained unfulfilled. Some fans speculate that Rogan’s lack of response may have intensified Johnson’s frustration, culminating in this confrontation.

Online Persona, Real-World Consequences

This episode marks a troubling shift from social media spectacle to a very real legal entanglement. While online stunts and “beef” between influencers aren’t new, authorities made it clear: freedom of speech doesn’t protect threats of violence.

The situation underscores a broader concern about how internet fame and performative masculinity can spill dangerously into real life. As the case proceeds through the legal system, it serves as a cautionary tale—no matter how influential or viral a person becomes, legal accountability still applies.
