The heartbreaking news left the family grappling with the reality of the situation and wondering what the future might hold.
Mother June’s announcement that her firstborn has been diagnosed with cancer brings tragedy to the family. The family is now speaking openly about the struggle they are going through and what the future may hold.
The world adores mom June Shannon and her four children. The oldest child, daughter of mom June Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, is currently battling stage 4 adrenal cancer, the family announced recently.
When asked how her baby was doing, mom June said, “He’s doing pretty well, actually.” He handles it pretty well, I think.
Lacy “Pumpkin” Efird, who was in attendance, agreed, saying that her older sister “is really fine.”
Lauryn went on to say that Anna “has no hair, no eyebrows, no arm hair or anything like that” and that “she can still go to the grocery store, she can drive herself, she’s still able to drive the kids to and from places.”
Anna is currently undergoing four rounds of chemotherapy, according to the family.
Many people believed that it would make her sick and other negative things, but Lauryn noted that she was able to recover quickly. Alana In response: “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson said, “Sometimes it wears on her body, but other than that she’s pretty good.”
Kaitlyn, 10, and Kylee, 7, are Anna’s two daughters, and they are all doing well, according to the family.
The 10-year-old is aware, but Lauryn said of her niece Kaitlyn, “I don’t think she fully understands.” She may not be here for a while due to her mother’s illness, but I believe she is aware of that. Although she is only 10 years old, she is much older because of her exposure to older people.
They discussed the impact the diagnosis and therapy had on the children, who now fear being separated from their mothers. “Kaitlyn has always been close with Anna, but now she doesn’t go anywhere without Anna,” Grandma June said of her granddaughter. I can see why she might worry that if Anna leaves the house, she might not come back and find Anna there.
Kylee is “too young to understand” what is happening to her mother, they said, adding.
“Yeah,” said Mama June, “he just knows Mama’s sick.”
Anna’s treatment options after chemotherapy are immunotherapy or clinical trials. However, she is not sure if she will pursue any of them.
Mum June said: “He just wants to see how it goes.” We don’t know what to do because the cancer is incredibly aggressive and has quickly transformed the left side of her body from nothing to something big.
Mum June said it was “scary” not knowing what to expect in the future or “what’s going to happen next when the chemo starts coming out of her body.” Still, the family tries to take each day as it comes.
It takes me on an emotional rollercoaster at times. Mom June began, “It’s always on my mind mentally and we know it’s fatal,” adding Ann’s grim diagnosis.
It is in the fourth stage. There will be no remission, she insisted. We’ve all come to terms with it, so I just advise people to take each day as it comes, because you never know.
However, Lauryn is optimistic about her big sister’s prospects. Who would have thought they wouldn’t have a cure in a year, she noted. The medical industry is expanding every day. Something is always happening, she noted. “Consider how quickly the COVID vaccine and similar products have been developed. I strongly believe that one day there will be a cure for some type of cancer.
She said: “It’s crazy to think that he probably won’t be here in five years, but I hope he can make it and fight in 10, 20 years.” Alana aka Honey Boo Boo expressed the same about her big sister.
The family’s journey is marked by emotional ups and downs as they grapple with the reality of Anna’s diagnosis and prognosis. They move through uncharted territory and are fueled by the love and wishes of their fans. The strength and resilience they display in the face of adversity serve as an inspiration to many. As they continue to take things one day at a time, their hope remains steadfast and they cherish every moment they have together as a family.
In times like these, it is important for loved ones to rally around those facing difficult circumstances. The support and understanding of friends, family, and the wider community can provide comfort and strength during challenging times. The family of Mama June and Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell will no doubt draw strength from their unity and the outpouring of love they receive from all who care for their well-being. They will continue to navigate the uncertain path forward, facing each day with courage and hope as they cherish the time they spend together.
