What started as a routine drive on the Newtown Bypass in Pennsylvania quickly turned terrifying for Kathryn Runner when a road rage encounter escalated into gunfire.
The woman was injured after passing a slow-moving vehicle, an incident that led to the arrest of the suspect and multiple serious charges.
Cristopher Corbi, 41, of Pennsylvania, is now in custody following the Bucks County shooting on Monday evening. Authorities say he faces an array of charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, firing a projectile into an occupied vehicle, possession of an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person, tampering with evidence, simple assault, and criminal mischief.
Runner told WPVI that the incident unfolded shortly after 6:30 p.m. as she and other drivers overtook a slow-moving car. “I saw something shiny out of the corner of my eye,” she recounted. “I looked over and saw the barrel of a gun. Then my window popped, and I saw the hole.”
After being shot at, Runner called 911 and attempted to follow the vehicle to get its license plate. The pursuit ended when the suspect exited the bypass onto another road.
