“What I cared about changed,” Michael Buble said after learning his oldest child had cancer.
Noah, the son of the “Sway” singer, was diagnosed with liver cancer when he was three years old.
The following year, nine-year-old Noah got the all-clear after treatment.
In a recent interview with Red Buble magazine, he said: “Obviously it changed me a lot; it changed what I cared about and how I looked at life.”
“It became my alter ego for most of my life as a performer, especially on stage.
He continued, “I would become the superhero I always wanted to be.” After my wife and I had this horrible event, I lost that alter ego.
The Canadian musician wrote a song called “Forever Now” about Noah’s children after his cancer treatment was completed.
To keep Noah close to his family during treatment, Buble and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, left their careers and moved to Vancouver after Noah was diagnosed.
He added that while his son’s cancer treatment was “so horrible and scary”, he “felt I could do anything” to beat the previous record.
Buble expressed his excitement about getting back to work and preparing for his upcoming UK tour in March in an interview with the newspaper.
“I think it’s the best show I’ve ever done,” he said.
“Without ever preaching, I want to be a unifier. There’s more to it than just singing songs or telling jokes. I sincerely try to unify and uplift people, especially in light of the current situation.”
Buble and Lopilato have been married since 2011 and have three children together: Elias, Vid, and Cielo.
Regarding his marriage, the singer said, “My wife and I understand more than anything else that mutual fulfillment is essential.”
We both know nobody is perfect, but I’m not saying we are.
“I won’t be traveling for a few months next year because she’s filming a movie. I’ll be her father on set and she’ll repay the favor.”
“No matter what we do, we just want to be together,” he added.
