In a world full of busy schedules and distractions, it’s easy to overlook the sacrifices made by the men and women in the military. They put their lives on the line and leave their families and friends to serve and protect our country.
When you think about it, you realize that no matter what we do, there are never enough “thanks” we can say to the men and women in the military who give their lives in service to our nation. Not only do they risk their lives, but they also leave their loved ones behind.
Both the deceased and those who remain at home waiting for their loved ones to return safely must be away from home.
Bridget Stevens is a military wife who is all too familiar with this experience.

Bridget Stevens is a military wife who is all too familiar with this experience.
This woman’s story will warm your heart, even though it takes place during a harsh Pennsylvania winter.
Bridget got into some trouble one day. It was bitterly cold outside and the heating stopped working in the house. Even though she was strapped for cash, she had to call Betlyn’s Heating and Cooling to fix the problem immediately or her children could freeze to death.
They gave her instructions on how to try to fix it herself, but when they realized the problem was more serious, owner Paul informed Bridget that he would go to her house to identify and fix the problem.
When he got there, Bridget explained to him that her husband usually took care of things around the house, but this time he wasn’t around to fix the problem. Bridget was left alone to take care of the house and their children while Jack was on duty.
After Paul expertly resolved the issue, he handed Bridget the bill. She accepted it and waited to see what it would cost her to read something that made her uncomfortable and overwhelmed.
No heat evening call, according to the bill. $1 deployment discount.
Paul did this as a way to appreciate her husband’s military service.
Bridget decided to post the entire encounter on her Facebook page because she was moved by it.
Although it is a bit long, I still want to thank Betlyn Heating and Cooling. I returned home with the boys to a cold, 50-degree house. When turning up the thermostat didn’t cause the furnace to come on, I contacted Betlyn’s expecting to have to leave a message on the answering machine and then head out to heat the space.
Eventually, Paul, the owner, responded and patiently walked me through the various steps to take in an attempt to turn it back on. He said he had to come to the house to fix it when none of it worked.
We started talking about Bobby and his dedication as he fixed the heater. By the way, I commented that I tried to explain the situation to my husband, but since he was deployed and didn’t see it, he didn’t know what to do.
I was a little worried about how much it would cost when it was done. He gave me the ticket you see in this picture. I tried to offer him $1 but he said it was a joke and thanked my husband for his service when I tried to give him some money.
Thank you, Paul Betlyn. You make my house cozy and warm.
In conclusion, the story of Bridget Stevens and Paul’s deployment discount serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by military families. It reflects the importance of recognizing and appreciating their bravery, resilience, and strength. Paul’s gesture of compassion, even though it seemed small, had a profound impact on Bridget and the community as a whole. It exemplifies the power of acts of kindness to strengthen a sense of unity and support for those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our country.
As we continue to express our gratitude to the men and women in the military, let us also remember the families who stand by their side and provide unwavering support and love. Their sacrifices and resilience deserve our utmost admiration and appreciation. May we always recognize the power of empathy and compassion in bringing communities together and honoring those who serve our nation with unwavering dedication and courage.
We are grateful that Paul understood how to respect a war veteran’s sacrifice for his country. To show our gratitude for all that our heroes do for the rest of us, we should always try to support their families.
