Melissa Raouf’s decision to compete without make-up in the Miss England beauty pageant has received a lot of attention and support from women around the world.
Melisa Raouf, a political science student, recently made history by entering the 94-year-old Miss England pageant without any makeup.
The semi-finals of the Miss England beauty pageant took place in London this week and 20-year-old Raouf dazzled the judges with her makeup-free face. She did it for a very important purpose.
Raouf added that she stopped wearing cosmetics to make a statement about the value of inner beauty at a time when people are obsessed with their outer appearance on social media.
She commented: “It was a scary experience but so great to win in this way.
It means a lot to me because I believe that many girls of different ages use makeup because of peer pressure.
“Our mistakes make us who we are, and that’s what makes each unique,” she said. “I believe that people should love and accept their faults and imperfections because true beauty is found in simplicity,” says the author.
Raouf went on to say that despite using makeup, she “never felt comfortable” in her skin.
“I never felt like I could meet beauty standards,” she admitted. I decided to attend without makeup because I suddenly realized that I am beautiful in my skin.
“Even though I’m completely hidden by cosmetics, I still feel good about myself. I don’t hesitate to share who I am because that’s who I am. I wanted to present Melissa as she is.”
The 20-year-old King’s College politics student claimed she has received a flood of encouraging messages on various social media platforms since she made the bold decision to walk the runway without makeup.
Many girls wrote to me that I helped them feel more confident, Raouf added.
“I want to help all women feel fabulous, especially when mental health is such a hot topic. Simply put, I want to get rid of all beauty standards. I believe every woman is attractive in her unique way.”
“I feel like I did it for all the girls,” she continued.
Melisa Raouf wants to encourage other women to appreciate their natural beauty.
The young woman from south London said: “I would like to use my platform as Miss England to promote natural beauty and eradicate this toxic mindset.
She competed in London this week without makeup and won over the judges enough to make it to the final round.
Melisa Raouf intends to compete “bare-faced” in Coventry at the Heart of England conference and event center against 40 other women for the Miss England title on October 17.
Miss England organizer Angie Beasley said: “It’s the first time I’ve seen a candidate without make-up compete in the semi-finals and she said she felt strong against all the other contestants.
“I’m fine with using make-up to enhance your natural beauty, but young children shouldn’t be wearing it. It’s so thick it’s like a mask,” the spokesperson claimed.
“I wish Melissa the best of luck in Miss England 2022.
Raouf’s decision to compete without makeup made a big difference. She showed that women can be beautiful without conforming to society’s standards and inspired many to embrace their natural beauty.
