Mississippi Teen Confesses to Fatally Beating Grandmother

A 17-year-old Mississippi boy has admitted to fatally beating his 73-year-old grandmother at her church, authorities confirmed.
Ollie Hamilton was found dead last Wednesday inside Smith Chapel Holiness Church, where she was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to The Monroe Journal.
Monroe County Sheriff Kevin Crook said the investigation quickly focused on the victim’s grandson. “This is a tragedy of the worst kind because a beloved church member, family member, and community member was killed — and within 24 hours, we learned it was by another cherished family member,” Crook said.
The teen, identified as Jadynn Hamilton, confessed to the attack, WTVA reported. He has been charged as an adult with murder and is being held on a $500,000 bond. Authorities have not released any information regarding a possible motive.
The case has left the family and the local community reeling. Sheriff Crook emphasized the profound shock and heartbreak caused by the crime, noting the difficult questions families face in the aftermath of such violent and unexpected acts.
