When a mother took her teenage daughter to the doctor to understand her troubling symptoms, she never expected him to say the girl was pregnant.
In fact, she refused to believe it, so the doctor fired back with a brilliant answer that had the soon-to-be grandmother screaming.
It’s perfectly normal to want to believe the best when it comes to our children.
Unfortunately, it’s also completely normal for them to let us down, just like we did to our parents when we were little. Bad behavior is part of growing up, but some messages are much harder to accept than others.
As we all learn and should know from our own childhood experiences, children are not always as open and honest with their parents as we would like them to be.
Although many of us have told our children,
“You can come to me with anything,” the fact is that our precious angels will one day keep secrets from us, as one mother found out.
We hope that our children will never do… or have unprotected s*x with… behind our backs, but unfortunately, these things are likely to happen, even if we think we have taken all the precautions necessary to prevent them from our kids don’t get into trouble when they enter their teenage years. At some point, before they become adults, we will very likely have to face the fact that our child is not the little angel they make out to be around us.
This is exactly what happened in one story with a naive mother who found out that her daughter would make her a grandmother. When the girl’s mother totally denied and questioned the doctor’s opinion, he set her straight with a brilliant answer that couldn’t have been more perfect.
The woman, who we’ll call Mrs. Jones, took her 16-year-old daughter to the doctor when the girl began experiencing unusual and uncomfortable symptoms that interfered with her daily activities. When the doctor asked, “What’s the problem?” Gentlemen.
Jones quickly explained, “That’s my daughter Mandy.
The doctor gave Mandy a thorough examination, including one important test that yielded the results he had expected all along. So he turned to Mrs. Jones and said, “Well, I don’t know how to tell you, but your Mandy is pregnant.” To Mrs Jones’s shock, he added: “I’m guessing about four months.”
Mrs. Jones immediately began to feel dizzy. How could that be? She was so careful with Mandy. The doctor must have been wrong, so Mrs. Jones lost no time in letting him know that he had made a great mistake. “Pregnant?! She can’t be, she’s never been alone with a man! You Mandy?” Mrs. Jones barked at the doctor and her daughter.
Of course, Mandy was quick to agree with her mother’s assessment. “No Mother! I’ve never even kissed a man!” stated the sweet, innocent girl. At this point, the doctor of the theater must have been quite annoyed because he is holding a positive pregnancy result in his hands and all the signs show that the test is absolutely correct. That’s when he came up with the perfect reaction that would shut little Mandy up and make her mom yell at the girl where her frustration belonged rather than the good doctor.
The doctor put his hands in his lab coat, walked quietly to the window of the examination room, and stared out without saying a word. He just stood quietly, watching what was happening outside the window and waiting. After about five minutes, Mrs. Jones couldn’t take it anymore. “Something’s going on, doctor!” she demanded and it was exactly what he was waiting for.
As a smile spread across his face, he turned to the woman and her pregnant daughter. He answered without hesitation, “No, not really,” he paused for a moment before looking little Mandy dead in the eye, adding, “Only the last time something like this happened, a star and three wise men appeared in the east.” came over the hill. I’ll be damned if I miss it this time!”
At that point, Mandy knew she had to give in, and Mrs. Jones was forced to face the music as well. Her daughter was no Virgin Mary and it was time to focus her frustrations where they belonged. It wasn’t the doctor or the test results that lied. It was Mandy and the proof should arrive in a few months.
Let this serve as a reminder to the rest of us. No matter how much we love our children, they are not perfect. The sad thing is that when parents are forced to realize this, they are disappointed by whoever pointed it out to them, such as a doctor who tells them their daughter is pregnant or a teacher who says their child has been caught. cheating, or even the cop who arrested their child….. It’s time to turn our attention back to our children and sometimes that means negative attention when they deserve it.
