Daniel Rivas (17) has Down syndrome, but he acts like any other teenager. He wants to go to college and work as a chef. Daniel always looked forward to going to his homecoming. According to FaithIt, when the time came, he asked out many girls but was rejected.
When a 10th grader named Kylie Fronius learned that Daniel was looking for a prom date, she knew she had to surprise him. She once asked him out on a date at school.
“Someone took the time to take my son home,” said Tonya Rivas, Daniel’s mother. “Words can’t even express how I feel right now.
Kylie’s video invitation to Daniel’s homecoming went viral and KVVU covered the story.
“I don’t think about kids with disabilities… “I don’t think they’re that different,” Kylie told KVVU. “Hopefully I can give him a night of entertainment.
Tonya was taken aback by Kylie’s gesture. “It’s not like Daniel is disabled,” she explained. Kylie didn’t notice any disability. This is what your heart desires as a mother.”
Kylie’s kindness impressed the FOX5 Surprise Squad on KVVU after they covered the story. They decided they wanted to be a part of Daniel’s night and help make it even more memorable.
The Surprise Squad is known in the community for recognizing outstanding acts in the community and surprising them with a big surprise.
Daniel and Kylie’s night started when the surprise unit arrived in a Rolls Royce. First, the couple was taken to a formal dinner. According to Little Things, they were then transported to homecoming, where they received the red carpet treatment for their entrance.
Before the night was over, Daniel burst into tears of ecstasy.
