Entertainer Susan Buckner, most popular for playing team promoter Patty Simcox in the 1978 film Oil, has passed on at age 72.
“It is with significant bitterness that we report the death of Susan Buckner, most popular to the moviegoing public as essential, effervescent team promoter Patty Simcox, who featured inverse John Travolta and the late Olivia Newton-John in the 1978 crush melodic Oil,” an assertion from Buckner’s family imparted to Fox News on Tuesday, May 7, read.
“Find happiness in the hereafter Susan. Your ability, soul and irresistible grin will live in our souls always,” the assertion proceeded.
Buckner’s little girl, Samantha Mansfield, added, “She was enchantment. She was my closest companion. Also, I will miss her consistently. I was fortunate I had such a lightning pole of a mother and presently I have her as a heavenly messenger.”
Buckner passed on Thursday, May 2, encompassed by her friends and family, the power source revealed.
In Oil, which was the most elevated netting film of 1978, Buckner conveyed the important cheer for the made up Rydell Secondary School.

Buckner addressed The New York Times in October 2015 when the power source did a piece on Ricci Campbell, a Bronx occupant who is known for giving out photographs of himself with Travolta, 70, and talking about his experience as a dance extra in Oil. Buckner noticed that Campbell “was similarly all around as significant as anybody” engaged with the hit film.
“He was one of us, everyone was a star in that film,” she said.
