Surveillance footage showed the extraordinary bravery of an elderly man in a cowboy hat who, despite facing an armed robber, managed to turn the tables and disarm the attacker, all while maintaining an amazing level of composure.
The scene takes place in a butcher/deli in Mexico, with the cashier calmly going about her business until a man enters the store. In a chilling moment, the rookie pulls a revolver from under his navy hoodie and points it menacingly at the cash register. Surprisingly, she doesn’t flinch, except to briefly use her laptop to cover her face. She continues to wait patiently, seemingly unfazed as if expecting something.
As the seconds tick by, the atmosphere grows more and more tense. The phone on the counter rings persistently for nearly 40 seconds, creating an eerie backdrop to the unfolding drama. The would-be shooter, growing impatient, then shifts his attention to a man in a cowboy hat with a prominent gray mustache standing in front of the counter. He points his weapon at this seemingly calm and focused individual and initiates a dialogue.

Tens of thousands of people have seen footage of the incident, which the Carnes Cares store in Monterrey, Mexico, uploaded to its Facebook page.
Daniel Cardenas, co-owner of the store, insisted the experience was real and alarming, despite some people claiming the video was fake.
The gunman visited the business several days ago, according to Cardenas, who spoke to The Washington Post, possibly to scout it.
Reynaldo Cardenas, Cardenas’ father, and co-owner of the store, eventually became a cowboy hat hero. Cardenas claims that despite appearing unfazed on camera, his father eventually admitted he was scared.
On Facebook, Cardenas said: “He actually told me that he acted out of fear. He was convinced that the man was going to shoot them. When he got the chance, he immediately disarmed him.
About 10 minutes after the argument, the police arrived at the scene and arrested the shooter.
Cardenas said of his father, “I’m just thankful he wasn’t hurt.
