The journey of Brooklyn Diamond and Nick Schnarr, residents of Indiana, United States, was like a roller coaster ride through rough seas. Anticipating the birth of their child, they were prepared for the challenges of parenthood, but they could never have foreseen the extraordinary twist of fate that awaited them. When they received the heartbreaking news that their child faced an insurmountable chance of survival, they found themselves at the crossroads of hope and despair. The doctors advised them to “Let the baby go to heaven” because they believed the baby had little chance of survival. It was a moment that would have broken the spirit of many parents, yet Brooklyn and Nick chose to trust in a higher power and fight for their child’s life. What followed would leave not only them but everyone involved in their remarkable journey bewildered, amazed, and deeply moved.
When doctors told a couple that their baby would not survive, they were on the verge of giving up hope. But against all odds, these parents decided to trust God and stand up for their children. What happened next blew everyone away!
No parent can endure the suffering of witnessing their children being threatened. Unfortunately, there are certain circumstances that parents cannot change, and despite their best efforts, there is only so much they can do to make things better.
The news of their baby’s birth was like a breath of fresh air for Brooklyn Diamond and Nick Schnarr, who lived in Indiana, United States. It flooded their hearts with endless love and joy. They were completely unaware of fate’s plans as they prepared for the arrival of their bundle of joy. Nick Schnarr posted their inspiring story of faith, hope, and the power of prayer on Facebook. stated:
In case you haven’t heard, this is a true story. My wife Brooklyn has carried a very sick baby boy for the past nine months.
We found out that the baby had significant hydrocephalus three or four months ago. In the past, hydrocephalus was referred to as “water on the brain” or “excess brain fluid.”
Finally, we were directed to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where several of the most renowned fetal doctors in the country informed us that his health was critical.
“Off the charts bad” described the child’s condition. Because it was so severe, the experts stopped checking the amount of fluid in his brain because it was no longer important.
The MRI images were nauseating to see. We were told directly that there was a more than 90% chance that the baby would either die soon after birth or have severe cognitive impairments that make it difficult to imagine any quality of life. We had a palliative care meeting about the use of life-sustaining measures and had in-depth, terrible, and emotional conversations about the ethics of when we might have to interrupt or stop such treatment – which would result in the baby being born “to die peacefully”.
in case she gave birth, Brooklyn moved to Cincinnati and stayed in a motel near the hospital.
I commuted back and forth while trying to work and look after Sophie and Lily at home. Brooklyn actually gave birth on July 8th. We had another meeting with the doctors about the use of the breathing tube and when we might need to remove the tube and let the baby go to heaven for literally 15 minutes before they wheeled her back to start the c-section. The baby started to cry as it was brought out and it was the most beautiful sound I had ever heard.
Long story short, Charlie Edward Schnarr remained in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) until yesterday when we all came home.
He seems to be a typical, beautiful child who behaves in a typical childish way. It does have a slight enlargement of the ventricles, but we can manage it with regular check-ups. Why did this happen?… The doctors stated: “We do not and cannot come up with a medical explanation for what we have witnessed here”. Somehow his brain managed to spontaneously “clear” the obstruction or redirect the fluid that was causing the unpleasant “backup” of cerebrospinal fluid. I’ve heard the terms “intervention of God” and “miracle” more times than I can remember in the past week. Despite the shock, the expert doctors and nurses with decades of experience were ecstatic. I have no doubt that thousands of people have prayed for us because of the “domino effect” of friends, family, clients, co-workers, and even total strangers praying and asking others to pray for us.
I am a reasonable person who undoubtedly believes in science and medical technology, but I strongly feel that God was involved.
I offer Him ALL the praise and glory. I want to express my sincere gratitude for all of your kind words, prayers, letters of encouragement, cards, messages, emails, and other expressions of support. Prayer is quite effective. God still works miracles; is real.
