In a world where diversity should be celebrated and embraced, it is disheartening to witness hurtful remarks and judgmental attitudes that some people make toward others based solely on their appearance.
People post such harsh comments and beg me to stop every time I post a picture of my baby boy online.
Everyone is nice in their own special way. Some individuals stand out and are somewhat special in how different they are from the rest. In fact, the color of this planet comes from its diversity. Unfortunately, a lot of people think they have the right to judge others based solely on their outward appearance.
There will always be unkind words, mocking looks, and harsh judgment. If we want to always see the positive side of life, we must learn to ignore negative comments.
Natasha’s two children. Her one-year-old son, Raedyn, was born with Pfeiffer syndrome, a genetic disorder characterized by early fusion of many skull bones that prevents the skull from developing properly and changes the shape of the head and face.
Natasha adores posting photos of her children on social media, just like any other mother. Unfortunately, there are a lot of nasty comments on the internet regarding Raedyn, such as “What’s wrong with your baby? and “Why does your child look like that?”
Some even chastised her for continuing to post videos on TikTok while criticizing her parenting.
However, Natasha insists that her son is like any other child and that she is not ashamed to show him to the world.
“I won’t give up,” he says. “He’s perfect, and just because he looks different doesn’t make him any less.
Some users even asked the following question on TikTok: “What quality of life will he have?”
Why would you force him to live this way by force? You allow him to lead such a miserable life.
Unfortunately, this happens both offline and online. Many people approach Natasha to ask her about Raedyn.
In the legal profession, people often come to me and ask about my child. Or why does your child look like that? That’s not how you talk to people.
“It’s stressful to explain my son’s health issues over and over again. He lives life like any other child. Does he look different? Yes, but that doesn’t make him valuable.”
Raedyn’s mother does everything in her power to give him the best life and protect him from the comments and stares he receives. I will fight for his acceptance and life until the day I die because he deserves it.
Natasha continues: “People need to understand that I’m just a mother and my child is just a child; his diagnosis does not control our lives.
We are just your average family.
I wish in the future everyone would accept people with disabilities and not make assumptions about them based on their appearance or physical limitations.
We are aware of the difficulties people go through every day when we hear life stories like Natasha and Raedyn’s. We sincerely hope that individuals will learn to value diversity and that future societies will be more open.
