There are several secrets that we take to the grave, even from the people we love most.
While honesty is often considered the basis of a strong relationship, sometimes the small lies we say – or the truths that we decide to detain – can maintain peace. But what happens if the harmless secret becomes a hidden burden? Today’s story is a perfect example of how one small moment of panic led to a lie that would never be revealed.
We often see a person we know best and trust the most. However, things are not always as they appear. Today’s story comes from someone who keeps the secrets from his partner and has decided to share his experience online.
Story:
During dinner in a restaurant with my husband, my phone was low, so I turned it off to protect my energy. Later, on our way home, I suddenly panicked – I couldn’t find the phone anywhere. I furiously searched the bag and checked the car, but it was missing.
Merified I left it in the restaurant, I insisted to come back. Although my husband was frustrated, we went to return for an hour. With the help of the manager we thoroughly searched the restaurant, but the phone was not found anywhere.
Then in my panic, I slid my hand into the jacket pocket – just to find out that the phone was there all the time.
I could not bring myself to the confession of the truth. Instead, I apologized to check the toilet. When I came back, I pretended to be relieved and told them I found the phone on the toilet tank.
I have never told my husband right to this day.
In relations, trust is essential, but sometimes small secrets remain bland to avoid unnecessary conflict or embarrassment. Although this story may seem harmless, it emphasizes how easy we can catch in our own mistakes and lengths we go to to cover them. Whether it is a smaller white lie or something more important, everyone carries secrets – even from the closest to them.
