Loomer, famous for her provocative and offensive language that has resulted in her being banned from various social media platforms and even Uber, expressed her anger towards Prevost on (formerly twitter).

He believes that Catholics have no positive prospects and will continue to be manipulated by the Vatican.

The majority of the criticism appears to be a result of prevost’s previous criticisms of the immigration policies implemented during the trump administration. According to the independent, he had reshared a tweet condemning the separation of migrant children from their families, stating:

‘there is nothing remotely christian, american, or morally defensible about a policy that takes children away from their parents and warehouses them in cages. This is being done in our name, and the shame is on all of us. 

He also published an opinion piece criticizing trump’s running mate jd vance, asserting that ‘Jesus doesn’t expect us to rank our love for others.’. 

Additionally, Prevost shared posts that questioned whether Trump and his administration acknowledged the pain inflicted by their policies. One tweet read: ‘as trump & bukele use oval to \[laughing crying emoji] feds’ illicit deportation of a u.S. Resident—once an undocumented salvadoran himself—no-dc aux+evelio asks, ‘do you not see the suffering? Are you not troubled by your moral compass? How can you stay quiet?”.

The name ‘leo’ connects him to pope leo xiii, a pontiff from the 19th century who was renowned for his intellectual contributions and the influential social encyclical rerum novarum.

Father Vitro Crincoli, a spokesperson for the Vatican, stated, ‘historically, leos were known for their strong leadership.’ This pope adores his subjects. He perceives individuals not as mere machines, but as human beings whose actions and efforts embody their inherent worth and dignity. 

In his inaugural address, pope leo xiv stressed the importance of making the church a welcoming place: ‘we must work together to be a missionary church, one that builds bridges and fosters dialogue, always open to receiving everyone, just like this square—open arms to all who need our charity, presence, dialogue, and love.’. 

He also had a conversation with his former diocese in Peru, expressing gratitude to the faithful people who shared their faith and contributed greatly.
