During an annual visit to the doctor, an 80-year-old patient was asked how he was doing. He exclaimed with great pride, “I’ve never felt so good!” His chest swelled with satisfaction and he eagerly shared the remarkable news with his doctor.
“My wife of 23 years is pregnant and she’s mine! What do you think about that, doctor?”
The doctor leaned back in his chair, the corners of his mouth twitching slightly as he thought about how to respond to this unique situation. Finally, he decided to share a story that could convey his perspective.
He began, “You see, I once knew a man who was an avid hunter. Every year he eagerly awaited the hunting season. It was his favorite time to get out into the outdoors, immerse himself in nature, and chase game.” He was a dedicated and experienced hunter, always making sure to have his trusty rifle with him.”
However, one day he was in a hurry and took an umbrella rather than a rifle.
The doctor said, “He was in the bushes when a large grizzly bear suddenly materialized in front of him!
Aiming at the animal, he picked up the umbrella and pulled on the handle.
The doctor asked, “Do you know what happened?”
The shocked old man said, “No.” The doctor said, “The bear fell dead right in front of him!”
That can’t be true, the older man remarked.
Someone else must have killed the bear.
The doctor’s message was clear: life is full of unexpected twists and turns, and sometimes the most unusual paths lead to the most unusual destinations.
