Ray came home one evening completely worn out from his day, at work. He crawled into bed next to his sleeping wife. Instantly drifted into a deep slumber. However, upon opening his eyes he discovered himself in Heaven, where he was greeted by St. Peter with a declaration; “Ray you passed away in your sleep.”
Stunned and unable to believe what he was hearing Ray muttered under his breath “No way! I can’t be dead! There’s much at stake for me now! Please bring me back!” Nevertheless, St. Peter informed him that the only way for him to return to Earth was in the form of a chicken. Ray’s heart sank with disappointment. He pleaded to be placed on a farm, in his neighborhood.
In an instant feathers surrounded him as clucking sounds filled the air while he pecked away at the ground.
As he settled into his life as a hen a rooster approached him. Casually asked, “So you’re the new hen, huh? How’s your first day going?” Ray, now known as the hen replied, “Not too bad. There’s this sensation, inside me. It feels like I’m about to burst!” The rooster. Explained, “Oh that’s ovulation. Haven’t you ever laid an egg before?”
Ray vehemently denied having laid an egg and the rooster advised him to stay calm and let nature take its course. Taking the advice, in stride Ray allowed his body to do what it needed to do. Within a few moments, an egg emerged from him.
Overwhelmed with emotion Ray realized he had become a father. His joy prompted him to lay another egg. Just as he was about to lay his egg he felt something hit the back of his head with both force and sound.
