Embarking on the journey of planning a wedding is an arduous task that requires meticulous attention to detail and a spirit of hope. While every couple dreams of a flawless and magical event, reality often turns out to be a mix of joyful moments and unforeseen challenges. The process of organizing a wedding, with its myriad complexities, sets the stage for a celebration that is as unpredictable as life itself.
At least 300 people attended the big wedding. It was discovered that the bride and her cousin’s husband were having an affair. Although the cousin had known for some time, she decided to inform all the tables around the table about the bride’s infidelity until the wedding. The poor groom was taken aback.
The worst part was that his rich father-in-law opened a restaurant for him. He lost his restaurant and his husband. © Reddit / admx14
It took the father of the bride forty-five minutes to walk his daughter down the aisle. The venue’s air conditioning system failed while we were waiting. The temperature outside was over 100°C with high humidity. It was full of people. It was quite uncomfortable to walk around in the heat without bumping into someone else.
Most of the food was rotten so I guess the air conditioning problem probably affected the fridge system or something. The buffet consisted of salad, pasta, and buns. It was not enough to feed the guests, not even half. After the first dance, most people left. The bride’s two aunts fainted. My best friend’s mother remarried and was planning a lavish, beautiful wedding, but for some reason, she decided not to hire a DJ. Her mother asked me to manage the CDs at the last minute and gave me a list with spoken instructions on when to play them. She assured me that she believed me, even though I tried to warn her that I just didn’t follow her.
She seems to have had a lifelong desire to walk down the aisle to a specific tune, but I’ve never been able to figure it out. They had to start walking in time for sunset, so she headed down the aisle as I flipped through a series of bad tunes, much to the dismay and delight of the audience.
Years later, my friend’s stepdad would always ask, “Is this the guy who ruined my wedding?” when I called her home. “How are you?” © Reddit/yeetnpotatoes
I attended a wedding where a couple purchased their wedding package through Groupon. Which is fine, why spend tons of money in a single day? However, I suppose the site believed they could save.
They put us in a room that smelled so bad of cat poop that several people had to leave immediately.
There was a vending machine with the only snack available. The ceremony had to be stopped every time the plane took off because you couldn’t hear anything. It was close to the airport. Plus, the day after the event, we all got foodborne illnesses. © Reddit / Independent-Nobody43
We went to the wedding of a family member who was not very rich. It was nice, even though it was held in a cheap facility. The fact that only one-third of those invited attended broke my heart. The couple’s sadness could be seen on their faces.
We lived an hour away and they approached our table to ask if we had any acquaintances in town. There were barely thirty in attendance, although they had enough food for a hundred. To ensure that their food and money did not go to waste, they were even prepared to invite complete strangers to visit. I received an invitation to a close friend’s party. They were blissfully married for several months in the courtroom. I felt something was wrong when I got there and noticed a big crowd. The wife of one of my friends suffers from frequent panic attacks and is so agoraphobic that she will scream uncontrollably if she feels overwhelmed.
I quickly contacted a friend and asked what was going on and if it was okay.
Turns out, unbeknownst to my friend, my friend’s parents had invited everyone they knew. After I gave them a photo of the crowd, he and his wife decided a second honeymoon would be better than a reception. He apologized via message to everyone he and his wife had invited and ordered them to go without informing his parents. When we left, the parents lost it. © Ruddit / BitterGingerDude
I take wedding photos. A few years ago I attended an opulent outdoor wedding in an elegant setting in the middle of nowhere. The venue was incredibly beautiful, with a long concrete staircase that descended to the altar and was surrounded by water fountains, making the bride appear to be rising from heaven to everyone present.
The bride and her father arrive as the ceremony begins. After going down the concrete stairs for three or four steps, the sneaker twists on her. She lost most of her front teeth in the fall and fell a good twelve feet or more.
It took the ambulance about forty minutes to get there because the location was so remote. She ended up being fine and weeks later I got an email from them with a new appointment date. This time there were no footsteps to be seen. © Reddit / MaestroLogical
Hurricane Ivan. The hurricane hit us right on Thursday and our wedding was set for this Friday. On Friday, while we were waiting without power, we remembered that one of our neighbors was a priest.
My boyfriend and I just proposed outside the house by knocking on his door. The big church wedding was canceled and instead, I got married outside in front of the house with the background noise of chainsaws. We have been married for 17 years. © Reddit/microtodd When I was little, my dad had vintage cars and used them for weddings. I would love to remove the confetti from the car when he got home. When he returned a week later, the car was empty of confetti.
The bride apparently had a change of heart on the way to the church, and instead of escorting her to the church, they asked her and her father if he could drop them off at their favorite spot, the local zoo. He left them there dressed for his wedding, so he did.
When they finished, they went home to get a taxi. People probably waited at the church for a while because it was before cell phones.
This was witnessed by a close friend who works as a wedding photographer. The best man stated that the groom had come out as gay and that the wedding had been called off while they waited for the wedding. Even though it was actually quite serious, everyone laughed like it was the biggest joke.
Unhappy, the bride was on the way in the car. They had to straighten out their lives and all the guests had to wait. They ended up dividing the reception area in two, with each family having their own meal. They obviously didn’t want pictures. © Reddit / timiss***d
It was sometime in 2009. The bride went swimming in the ocean on the second day of her wedding. The place was Tenerife. She took a wrong turn and ended up “lost at sea” for about nine hours. She eventually returned, though not in good health.
All day everyone was in a frenzy and believed she had drowned. She wished it was before he came back.
When her husband came across her phone, he saw several texts purporting to be from her aunt, but the graphic language soon made it clear that wasn’t the case at all – she had been having an affair with the best man in what seemed like years. Not long after, their abolition was approved. Sixty thousand dollars for one of the most extravagant weddings I have ever attended. © Reddit / Ciggies87
After the wedding, the bride and groom decided to “go take some pictures”. They disappeared for about five hours. We all waited on the spot. The DJ didn’t play any music and the buffet wasn’t set up because no one had heard of them. After 2 hours most of the patrons decided to withdraw some cash and we got the venue manager to bring out the buffet and Du to play the music. So the wedding couple was not present when the celebration started.
When they returned, they were shocked to find that almost all the food had been consumed, that everyone was dancing happily, and that no one remembered that it was their wedding. The wedding itself was not destroyed, but everything around it. After all, our guests had fun while we handled things ourselves. © DrPCox85 /
