Roger E. Mosley has died at the age of 83. He will forever be remembered for his role in the popular TV series Magnum P.I. His daughter Ch-a broke the tragic news that Roger died three days ago from injuries sustained in a car accident in Lynwood, California. To share the terrible news with Roger’s supporters, she wrote the following on Facebook:
“Roger E. Mosley, my father, your friend, your ‘Coach Mosley’, your ‘TC’ of Magnum P.I. died at 1:17 am.”
We could never mourn such a beautiful man, she continued, adding that he “passed peacefully” surrounded by relatives. Any cry in his honor TERRORIZES him. It’s time to honor the legacy he left us all. I appreciate you, Dad. You adored me too. Although my heart is heavy, I am strong. I will take care of your love of almost 60 years, Mom. She’s in amazing hands because of the way you raised me. Take it easy.
Theodore “TC” Calvin, a character from the hit TV series Magnum P.I., was Mosley’s most famous character. He co-starred with Tom Selleck in the role from 1980 to 1988, after initially turning down the role out of concern that it might jeopardize his film career. His agent convinced him to audition:
“There’s this Tom Selleck in it. Tom Selleck produced about five pilot episodes, but none of them were successful. So, Roger, here’s what you do: Sign up for the show and fly to Hawaii, where you’ll be treated well and paid well for The 20 days it takes to shoot [the pilot] before you come home, you’ll be fine because a comedy with Tom Selleck always flops.
