Ryan Reynolds, the co-owner of Wrexham FC, has a specific request for the players of the football club.
Palmer was instructed by the Wrexham FC co-owner to “come back like a gentleman” as his wife welcomed the team.
According to Ryan Reynolds’ main rule, Wrexham FC players must wear their jersey when chatting with his wife Blake Lively.
The Wrexham football team co-owner, 46, said during a guest appearance on the Fearless in Devotion podcast that striker Ollie Palmer usually greets his wife without his full uniform.
Reynolds stated: “Ollie is always the first man to come out of that dressing room absolutely shirtless to talk to my wife. Every time we come in as a family and whatnot, we go down to the dressing room.”
I keep telling Ollie, “Ollie, put your f-king shirt on and come back like a gentleman.”
Palmer, 31, has developed a close relationship with owners Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, in addition to causing him trouble with his nude habit. In a later episode of the podcast, Reynolds described the Wrexham forward as “one of the best guys we know”.
Palmer discussed his connection with the owners in an interview with PEOPLE in November. Palmer, who claimed to have a “really good personal relationship” with Reynolds and that the two “talk a lot”, stated: “I’ve had good owners, bad owners, and ugly owners.”
“I’ve never had owners so passionate about a football team, the community, and what they do for everyone,” says the author.
Palmer noted that he could “see [their passion] behind the cameras, which makes it so authentic and it feels so real” when they filmed their FX documentary Welcome to Wrexham.
Palmer went on to say that McElhenney and Reynolds “have truly fallen in love with the city, the community, the football club, and the players.”
Palmer told PEOPLE that McElhenney and Reynolds were both “so kind” and “so invested” and that it “definitely helps the players” perform well on the field.
Palmer noted symbolically, “When you have ownership on top as they do, you want to go through more bricks for them.” “So, from the point of view of playing, of course, it benefits the players, moreover, I now see them as completely regular individuals.
Despite their fame and success, Palmer views Reynolds and McElhenney as ordinary individuals. He sees them as ordinary people who have truly fallen in love with the city, the community, and the football club. Their passion and commitment behind the scenes left a lasting impression on Palmer and the entire team.
Reynolds and McElhenney’s passion, kindness, and genuine commitment have made a significant impact on the players, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie and motivating them to give their best both on and off the field.
