HER OWN LIFE
In 1968, Sally Field married Steven Craig; the couple had two boys, Peter and Eli. She married Alan Greisman in 1984 after they divorced in 1975.
Samuel was their only child together, and they divorced in 1994. She dated Burt Reynolds from 1976 to 1980; she writes about the rocky relationship in her memoir.
She describes his authoritarian behavior and how he convinced Field not to go to the Emmy Awards where she was honored for “Sybil.”
Indeed, Reynolds died shortly before her book was published. He also referred to their failed romance as “the biggest regret of my life” in his 2015 memoir “But Enough About Me”.
Before his death, Fields said they had not communicated for thirty years. She clarified: “There was no one to be with.”

And in the process of reassessing everything, he somehow created the illusion that I meant more to him than he realized, even though I didn’t. All he wanted was the thing he was without. Simply put, I didn’t want to deal with it.’
