When I think back, to my childhood I recall that the school lunches didn’t always align with today’s standards of diet. They often included greasy and bland rice along, with fried potatoes. However, society has undergone transformations since then.

Recently, in schools in Ontario, Canada there has been a push to promote eating among students. Unfortunately, it seems that some schools may have taken their enthusiasm for this campaign a bit far, especially regarding the children themselves. There was an incident where a child brought food from home and had it confiscated by a staff member who deemed it unhealthy.

With a determination to address the issue, she decided to approach the school and express her concerns regarding how the unprofessional and insensitive treatment of the children was handled.

In response, to Eliana’s concerns the school explained that they had established guidelines regarding what types of food were permitted to be consumed or brought from home.

However, they also clarified that they had never instructed their employees to decide whether or not to provide food to students based on its worth.
