On that particular day in 1991, the group was performing in San Diego and en route to Fort Wayne, Indiana for an upcoming tour show. Reba and her ex-husband were supposed to take a different flight but decided to spend the night in San Diego instead. Ten miles after takeoff, the band’s plane crashed.
Despite the fact that the fatal disaster happened more than three decades ago, he never misses an opportunity to honor the deceased members of the band.
Reba spoke openly about the tragedy in an interview with Oprah in 2012. Everyone on board the plane was killed, she claimed, when the plane’s wing tip hit a boulder on the side of Mount Otay.
“Narvel, Reb’s boss, went to meet our pilot and briefed us on the situation as soon as we were briefed. It was around two or three in the morning when Narvel returned to the hotel room where I was staying and informed me that one of the planes crashed. I immediately asked, “Are they all right?” “I don’t think so,” he said. “But you’re not sure,” I asked. “I don’t think so,” he said.
