An atheist neighbor heard his neighbor begging for food one morning. He went out and bought a ton of merchandise for her, thinking it would be funny, and left them on her front porch.
The woman cried out the next morning, “Praise be to the Lord who gave me this food.”
It wasn’t the Lord, it was me, the neighbor shouted, laughing so hard he could hardly speak.

When the police showed up at her house, they told her that other neighbors had also noticed the rubber bands on their doorknobs and went on to explain why criminals might do it.
The rubber band was shown to hold the latch open when the homeowner answered and released the door latch to open it. Thieves can thus easily push through and enter the dwelling. The homeowner cannot lock the door because the rubber band holds the latch open.
