Time is a strange thing, isn’t it? It has this uncanny ability to slip through our fingers and make us wonder how moments become memories in the blink of an eye. If you’re like me, you’ve probably wondered how time seems to fly by so quickly.
I feel like it’s so easy to get caught up in our daily lives, waking up every morning, going to work, enjoying the weekends, that you blink and suddenly ten years have passed. Children serve as a potentially better benchmark in this regard. While many people can stay essentially the same over the course of a few years, children grow and develop so quickly that they serve as a daily reminder of the passing of time (and the constant impact it has on us).
Consider Eric Cowell, Simon Cowell’s son. If you had asked me his age last week, I probably would have said four or five. My thing is, considering how recently he was born, he still seems like a pretty small baby to me.
Even if he wasn’t. Nowhere close. No, Simon Cowell’s son Eric, now nine, is engaged to Lauren Silverman. In addition, he made a rare red carpet appearance for the most recent America’s Got Talent finale, serving as a gentle reminder to all of us that he exists and that he’s not too far removed from childhood.
The news that Simon Cowell, the famous talent show judge and music entrepreneur, is going to be a father for the first time seems to have come out only last year. Eric Silverman was born to Simon and Lauren Silverman in February 2014. Simon Silverman admitted, “I never knew how much love and pride I would feel.”
Truth be told, we haven’t seen much of Eric since then; it seems his famous father preferred to keep him out of the intense limelight.
That’s perhaps why Eric’s recent presence on the final AGT red carpet generated so much interest. According to Hello! Eric posed for a photo with Hurricane, the show’s 18th season winner, wearing jeans and a casual striped polo shirt.
He was also seen standing between his parents and I have to admit I was amazed at how mature he looks now!
Simon, who is said to be worth close to £500million, said earlier this month that he was focused on “training” Eric to one day follow him in his business empire.

“Eric is a bit like me,” Simon told the Mirror. When he starts playing a little, I remind him, “Remember, Daddy has done all this before.” I encourage him to pursue a career in show business.
