Despite a language barrier that made things difficult (Carlos didn’t speak English and Erica didn’t speak Spanish), the couple started dating in 2006 after meeting at a nightclub in Scottsdale, Arizona. Despite this, they were clearly attracted to each other. Carlos and Erica reportedly spent much of the first night dancing. Carlos gave Erica his phone number on a piece of paper after the club closed and told her to do with it as she saw fit.

Finally, Erica may have lost the paper containing Carlos’ phone number. But it seems fate had other ideas.
After reuniting through mutual friends, the couple soon realized that their feelings for each other were real.
Carlos demonstrated his determination by learning English so that he could speak clearly and concisely to Erika. Meanwhile, Erica was studying Spanish.
“Keep these gifts.
I want to give them the biggest kiss even when they’re crying uncontrollably.” That’s the situation.

The devoted couple married in 2007 in a lavish ceremony in Las Vegas before trying to start a family. Their first attempt ended tragically when they miscarried. However, Erica became pregnant again with the help of fertility treatment, and this time the couple was truly shocked. Doctors informed Erica during her first sonogram that she was actually carrying four babies instead of one!
Carlos and Erica spent months preparing to become parents of quadruplets. Erica was very quickly exhausted from giving birth to four children, so Carlos tried his best to take care of her, as well as take care of household duties such as cleaning and cooking.

Erica was admitted to the hospital on January 12, 2015, due to hypertension. Before he got there, she texted Carlos to let him know the doctors wanted to deliver the babies right away because she was having constant contractions.
Erica and Carlos took photos and videos to remember for later. Carlos arrived. Carlos allegedly planted a kiss on his wife’s head before Erica entered the delivery room and said, “Let’s get the babies out.” Little did he know that day would change his life in so many ways.
Carlos claims that a C-section was used to deliver his and Erica’s quadruplets, which consist of three girls and one boy. Carlo stated, “We were so excited to start our family,” according to Yahoo. “And then it all came crashing down. Tragically, Erica experienced severe blood and fluid loss immediately after giving birth, a condition known as hypovolemic shock.
As the nurses rushed into the room in response to the alarms going off, Carlos was sitting by his wife’s bedside. The new father was asked to wait outside as medical staff attended to his wife. But an hour later the doctor showed up and Carlos learned that Erica was dead.

“How could it have happened?” he thought to himself. She was fine for a while and then she wasn’t. She simply disappeared after being alive for a while. One morning I had the best day of my life and the next day the worst day of my life. After the death of my wife, four children were born to me.”
Remembering a previous conversation with his late wife, Carlos named their offspring Carlos Jr., Paisley, and Tracey. He named the third child “Erica”.
On January 16, 2015, the distraught father was allowed to bring his two children home from the hospital. On March 11, the other two were allowed to return home.
Carlos knew he had to be there for his children despite his overwhelming sense of loss and anguish over the death of his loved one. The father of four attended childcare courses where he learned how to bathe his little ones, feed them when they were hungry, and regulate their sleep patterns. He also completed CPR training.
Sondra Bridges, Erica’s mother, eventually moved in with Carlos to help him take care of her grandchildren.
Sondra commented, “It’s funny how things work.”
“It’s been bittersweet, but also amazing, thanks to God and the overwhelming support of the public.” And I want to express my gratitude to all of you.
