Now, more than a decade later, his wife, Terry Irvine, has opened up about something Steve once said to her that may surprise some.

Terry recently agreed to be interviewed for the Australian television show “Anh’s Brush With Fame,” and the conversation took an unexpected turn. “He never thought he would have a long life,” Terry said in response to an interviewer’s question about Steve’s sudden death. He always had the idea that his life would be short.” Unfortunately, Steve was right in his prediction. The TV personality was killed by a stingray barb while filming “Ocean’s Deadliest” in Queensland, Australia.

After the event, Terri was ordered to contact the zookeeper. She recalls the moment she learned of her husband’s passing. “I just remember this strange sense of responsibility, this great feeling of sadness, but ‘what do I do now?’” I kind of gathered my thoughts and then I had to go out to the car and inform Bindi and Robert. .. which was quite difficult. ” When word of Steve’s death spread, Terri admits she was shocked by the outpouring of love. She said, “No one would have been more shocked by the outpouring of grief and love than Steve. Steve wasn’t hearing the word “famous” ever. I love that about him because he was never pretentious or self-absorbed, and we put down everything we built for the wild and still do it again in terms of things that in preservation, and I am very proud of it.”
