Surprising Incident in the Bathroom

The night was unusually quiet, too quiet as he moved down the dimly lit corridor to the bathroom.

There was a strange feeling of restlessness in the air that made his skin tingle. It wasn’t the first time he’d felt this way in the house, but tonight the silence seemed heavier, pressing down on him like an invisible weight.

He shook off the feeling, chalking it up to exhaustion from a long day. Yet as he reached for the bathroom switch, the unsettling silence turned into something far more palpable.

As he reached for the switch, a flash of surprise went through him when he felt what appeared to be another hand. Frightened, he retreated, hesitating for a moment before trying again. This time the switch was unoccupied and there was no sign of anyone else. Confused and a little restless, he quickly turned on the light and looked around the bathroom, but it was empty.

“It must be my imagination,” he muttered, trying to push the strange feeling away. The dimly lit room offered no explanation, leaving him confused by what he felt a moment ago. He shook his head, choosing to ignore it and finish what he came to do.

After washing his hands, he looked around the small bathroom once more, almost expecting something to be revealed. But again nothing appeared. Trying to calm himself down, he said aloud, “I’m just tired. It’s been a long day.” With that, he turned off the light and stepped out.

As he returned to bed, the strange encounter refused to leave his mind. He replayed the moment over and over, wondering if someone—or something—was in the room with him. Despite his efforts to push the thought away, restlessness clung to him, making sleep nearly impossible.

“It’s just my imagination,” he whispered again in the darkness, but the uncertainty lingered long after the house had fallen silent.

As dawn approached, he lay awake, staring at the ceiling, unable to shake the nagging feeling that something was wrong. The feeling of another hand on the switch replayed in his mind and he questioned his own sanity. Was it really just exhaustion playing tricks on him, or had he encountered something inexplicable?

Determined to get over the disturbing incident, he decided to let it go and chalk it up to fatigue. Yet deep down he knew the memory of that moment would remain, a whisper of uncertainty tucked away in the corners of his mind. Some experiences defy logic and leave behind no answers but only lingering questions.
