He tragically died in the accident, as did his two children, Lindsey, nine, and Judson, twelve. This tragic event also claimed the life of another person, whose name has not been published.

His friends, colleagues, and family were all deeply affected by his passing. Former TCU coach Gary Patterson remembered him as a remarkable person in every way.
