Millions of people have been touched by Jason Gayler’s story of how to recreate a beautiful moment with his daughter. On the first day of kindergarten and again on the last day of high school, he walked his daughter to school in pictures that went viral on social media and made many people cry with happiness.
A moment in time is not always just a moment. But we’ve all had those memorable times and often wish we could go back and experience them again.
While going through some old photo albums, Jason Gayler of Alvord, Texas, came across a picture of him walking his 5-year-old daughter, Brittany, to her very first day of school as he walked her down the road. It was undoubtedly an unforgettable time for him.
However, his tiny child was already grown and would soon be a high school graduate. So Jason asked Brittany if she wanted him to walk her to school on her very last day, 13 years ago, so they could recreate that unforgettable moment together.
Brittany appreciated the thought. So in May of last year, Jason, now 38, accompanied his daughter, 18, to her last day of high school. As before, a photo was taken to record this priceless moment.
They capture the essence of a special bond that transcends time and distance. They show that no matter how much time passes, the memories we make with our loved ones stay with us forever.
Several people were motivated by Jason’s story to revisit their own memorable past experiences. She served as a reminder to all of us that life is short and that we should cherish the time we spend with the people we care about. She also showed us the power of even the humblest acts of kindness.
Those photos of Jason and Brittany were posted on Twitter… and went viral.
Jason, who was struggling to hold back tears during that walk on the last day of school, says: “It gives me great joy to be able to help people remember that time, even if only for a short moment, and smile. I can only hope that one day when I’m old I can look back on it and smile!”
It’s a reminder to cherish the people in our lives and make every moment meaningful.
Those moments will last a life time. I have created an album for each of my grandchildren. It’s still ongoing. From when they were born. First day of school. Everything in between. Sport’s accomplishment s. Honors. And photos I will keep this going hopefully until they finish college then give it to them. They don’t know about the story of their lives. I’m doing. I’m hoping some. Day they will be able yo look back and say. Wow I remember that day. Thanks Nana!!!
