The unimaginable incident took place when Candelario left her toddler unattended at home for an incredible 10 days while she went on a vacation that included Detroit, Michigan, and Puerto Rico. When she returned from her trip, she made a terrifying discovery: her child had perished in her playpen.

Jailyn Candelario, the infant daughter of Kristel Candelario, died on June 18, 2023, and has since been arrested and charged with her murder. On Friday, June 16, 2023, a careless Ohio mother returned to her home on West 97th Street to find her sixteen-month-old daughter unconscious in her playpen.
The mother admitted through an interpreter that she left the youngster “all alone” while she was on a vacation that took her across the country and to Puerto Rico. According to a police affidavit for her arrest, Candelario’s daughter was “extremely dehydrated” when she finally arrived home after her trips.
Authorities investigating the murder discovered that the child’s playpen was incredibly dirty. After being left unattended for ten days, the child was discovered dead on “dirty blankets and underwear, saturated with urine and feces.”
A mother in Ohio called 911 when she found her child not breathing. A 16-month-old child was pronounced dead when emergency responders arrived at a home in Cleveland.

Another resident in the neighborhood remembered Jailyn as a young girl who was “always happy” and never frowned.
“Jailyn was a happy child, always smiling and always curious about things,” the source claimed. She was a beautiful, beautiful baby.
It wasn’t the first time Candelario left her child home alone, according to a person familiar with her behavior.
“We keep telling her not to leave her alone, not only me but also my friend across the street,” the witness claimed. “But she always leaves her alone.
