They all cleaned out their closets and completed whatever tasks they intended to complete while the country was on lockdown. He explained that making an album was my equivalent. “I didn’t intend to make an album. So I had these ten songs and I was wondering what I was going to do with them. Since I wasn’t aware that I was recording an album, it was just those ten.”
McCartney revealed to Elba that there was only one reason why he labeled the album McCartney III.
“I understood it was going to be McCartney III because I played McCartney I and McCartney II similarly because I played them myself. Then it was like, ‘OK, I get it.’

“I was pretty lucky. I was locked up with my daughter Mary and her family before I was allowed to work in the studio. It was a safe place. We were separated. We were always extremely careful. I was on vacation at the beginning of the year.” the year lockdown and COVID hit and when I came back I was placed under national lockdown.
“Suddenly it was amazing because [it] meant I was spending time with my four grandchildren. I had access to a studio. According to the government, you can only go to work if you can’t work from home. That’s why I miss my home studio. The journey to home the studio takes 20 minutes. Then I just started thinking about a song I started a few months ago but never finished. We removed that and I started working on it.
It serves as a reminder that age is just a number and that it’s never too late to follow your dreams and live life to the fullest.
