Recently, Roseanne Barr has received a lot of negative media attention. As she took to Twitter and let free with a storm of r. insults, her show was terminated and she was fired. The worst of them was “Planet of the Apes and the Muslim Brotherhood had a baby=vj.” This tweet made a reference to Valerie Jarrett, who served as Barack Obama’s senior aide before leaving office.
When the tweets were discovered, ABC immediately canceled her show, and initially, she was very sorry. Even though she stated that she was “done with Twitter,” she still tweeting.
“I apologize to all Americans as well as Valerie Jarrett. I sincerely apologize for making a crude joke about her politics and appearance “On the morning of May 29, Barr wrote. “I ought to have been wiser. Please pardon me; my joke was inappropriate.”
Barr’s co-stars were obviously upset by her behavior, and several of them expressed their views on Twitter. She chose to respond in kind rather than apologizing, destroying any remaining public perception of her credibility.
While some would argue that Barr was joking and probably didn’t fully understand what she was saying, it’s crucial that we treat these instances seriously. Our nation is in a fascinating position right now, so it’s no coincidence that Barr thought it was okay to publish that kind of tweet. She obviously wasn’t prepared for the criticism she got, and that’s a problem.
John Goodman who is Roseanne’s co-star responded to the circumstance by remaining silent. He was reported to have said, “I have no knowledge of it. I never read it.”
He claimed that he wouldn’t “get an Emmy anyway” when asked about the cancellation itself. Goodman and co-star Laurie Metcalf are disappointed that the well-liked reboot was scrapped, but the program must not continue this time.
Barr criticized both of them in a tweet of regret. She penned, “I simply regret that Laurie (Metcalf) and John, two of the greatest performers in history, were also tossed out with me by ABC. They will never have better character performers on their network, which makes me sick.”
On Wednesday morning, she tweeted that she is not an r in any way, shape, or form, stepping up her defense. To her, the tweet was a “joke,” but it is obvious that the rest of the world views it differently.
“I’m not r… I have never been and never will be, “Tweeted her. “One snide remark in a lifetime of battling for civil rights for all minorities, against networks, and studios, at the risk of my nervous system, family, and riches will NEVER be taken from me.”
Roseanne is now blaming Michelle Obama for the cancellation of her show, an unlikely suspect.
Because Channing Dungey, the head of ABC, spoke with Michelle Obama for a considerable amount of time after the tweet gained attention, Roseanne has claimed that the former First Lady was to blame. Mrs. Obama allegedly insisted apologies would not be sufficient punishment for the television personality.
Roseanne was also eager to point out that all of this is taking place just before the Obamas’ own Netflix television program premieres. Maybe Michelle and Obama were concerned Roseanne might steal their viewers.
Roseanne is experiencing anguish from her previous networks as well after the reaction. She will once again feel the financial pain of Viacom’s decision to stop airing reruns of the old Roseanne owing to the tweets she sent.
