My daughter is 14, and she’s been dating a kind, polite boy from her school. Every Sunday, he comes over and spends the day in her room. I usually leave them alone, assuming they’re just hanging out.

When they noticed me, both looked startled. My daughter quickly pulled off her headphones and asked softly, “Mom, is everything okay?”
