Something was frightening before the storm.
The inhabitants reported unusual fluctuations in strength, strange sounds in the wind, and even pets who act anxiously in hours leading to the disaster. It was as if nature itself was giving a terrible warning – the one that would soon become a terrible reality.
On Tuesday, the news suggests that Hurricane Helene is responsible for the death of at least 135 people.
While searching and rescue teams are still looking for an estimated 600 people who remain undisputed, we are beginning to hear harrowing stories about survival and devastating loss stories.
Jessica Drye Turner, who lives in Texas, shared a heartbreaking story of her family on Facebook.
Initially, Turner asked friends and family for prayers for her sister, nephew and parents who were stuck on the roof of their house in Asheville, North Carolina. She describes how her family sat trapped only with clothes on her back and one work phone, while they waited for it to be saved.
In a tragic update, which she later explained that she had received through a third party, Turner shared her parents and nephews drowned, and although her sister, Megan, ended between “something” that was later rescued.
After the initial shock disappeared, Turner shared another Facebook update, this time with more details.
“I have to clarify some details about what happened,” she wrote. “My update took place after the information was told.” All the details I received were from the 3rd pages until I heard directly from my sister. What actually happened is worse, but I feel like I have to inform everyone. ”
Although Turner first said that the roof of her family had collapsed was not the case. The house did it, dropped his sister, a seven -year -old nephew and parents who were at the 70s into the flood waters.
“Mama held on to Micah and dad tried to keep Megan.” He still panic and pushed her under. ”
Megan tried to hold a tree and her father, but the stream was too strong and swept Michael Dry’s away. A moment later Megan watched her mother Nora float.
“Where is Micah?” She screamed.
Jessica wrote that at that moment her sister believes that their mother “gave up” because she lost Micah to the current.
“Looking at the face of my mother was absolutely horrified and defeat.”
Megan looked up in time to see how the floods were sweeping their son.
“He was so scared.” And she heard him shout, “Jesus !!!! Please help me! ‘And we believe it is when it was taken. ”
After watching her family swept, Megan released the tree she held on. The current took her quickly and pushed her between two trailers, where she stayed for three hours before she was found by the rescuers.
Micah’s body was placed “1/4 mile around where they found megan.”
Tragic last words of one of the youngest victims of Hurricane Helene
On Tuesday, the news confirms that Hurricane Helene claimed the lives of at least 135 people.
While teams for searching and rescue continue their efforts to find approximately 600 missing individuals, heartbreaking stories about loss and survival are beginning to appear.
Jessica Drye Turner, a Texas resident, shared the devastating suffering of her family on Facebook.
Turner initially begged for prayers because her sister, nephew and older parents remained stuck on the roof of their house in Asheville, North Carolina. With mere clothes on his back and the only work phone, they were anxious to save.
Tragically, the later update revealed that Turner’s parents and seven -year -old nephew drowned while her sister Megan miraculously survived after she became imprisoned among the debris. Turner later explained that her initial information had come from third parties, but once she spoke directly to Megan, she realized that the reality was even more harmful.
Unlike earlier news, the roof of the family does not abrasion. Instead, the whole house was swept away and threw Megan, her young son Micah and their parents into raging flood waters.
“Mama held Micah while Dad was trying to keep Megan,” Turner wrote. “He still panic and pushed her under.”
Megan desperately tried to stick to the tree and her father, but the powerful stream tore them. Her father, Michael Dry, was kidnapped and a little later, her mother Nora, carried around.
“Where is Micah?” Megan screamed.
According to Turner, it seemed at that moment that their mother had lost hope – her to face a mixture of horror and surrender – when Micah was torn off her grip.
Megan could watch the helpless terror, as her son, overcome by fear, was swept away. His last words were a desperate request:
“Jesus! Please help me!”
At that moment he probably took the current.
After witnessed unimaginable, Megan released her adhesion to the tree and was carried away. She was forced by flood waters between two trailers, where she remained trapped after three painful hours before she was saved.
Micah’s body was later found a quarter mile downstream from where Megan was discovered.
The tragedy that plunged the Dry family is a heartbreaking reminder of the devastating power of nature and the unimaginable loss it can bring. Given that rescue teams are still looking for hundreds of still missing, stories like Megan’s serve as a testimony of human resistance and grim reflection of the destruction of the storm.
While Megan survived, the pain of losing her parents and the young son will remain in such a terrible way with her forever. After this disaster, the communities meet to mourn, support and rebuild, honor the memories of the lost while holding hope for those who are still waiting for finding.
