Turner hasn’t been seen in public for a while, but in one of her recent appearances, Oprah Winfrey and her husband Erwin Bach were mostly seen supporting her when she sat down or stood up. The rock diva had a little trouble dancing in her heels, but she kept her brightest smile and never let them go.
Tina Turner’s ongoing health issues
While Turner’s exact cause of death has not been released, her spokesperson said she died “peacefully after a long illness at her home in Kusnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland.”
Only close friends and family will attend the celebrity’s funeral, which will be held in secret. In addition, Turner’s spokesperson asked that the family be given some privacy and made it clear that any further media inquiries regarding her death would not be answered.
Turner chronicled her life over the past five years and revealed many previously undisclosed facts, including some of her health issues. In her 2018 memoir, My Love Story, which detailed the various twists and turns her life took since marrying Bach, she was candid about a number of them.
For example, she had a stroke in October 2013, just three months after she and Bach were married. Turner recalled that when she first woke up, she felt bedridden.
She struggled to speak when she realized the stiffness in her legs and screamed to her husband for help. At that time she had a stroke, but she was not aware of it.
Bach and his doctor took the singer to the hospital, but she could not move. She needed to be pulled out and assisted into an upright sitting position. Turner ended up staying in the hospital for eleven days.
Turner was upfront in her memoir about how much she regrets putting off taking care of her body and health. She was diagnosed with high blood pressure in 1978, but didn’t pay much attention to it because most of her family already suffered from it.
However, due to her hectic schedule and the effects of the medication, her body began to react and her performance suffered. Turner soon saw that he could not continue to play the high notes in the same way.
However, the increased blood pressure began to affect other areas of her body, especially her kidneys. Turner’s kidneys have lost 5% of their original function. Her husband was ready to give him a kidney even though she was on dialysis.
But the “I Don’t Want To Lose” singer was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016. She said that even though she had been suffering from severe diarrhea for months, it was caught early.
Her transplant was delayed while doctors removed and healed the malignant parts of her intestines.
She eventually received her husband’s kidney, but the effects of the stroke left her dizzy. She felt very nauseous and dizzy. She wrote: “I couldn’t stand, walk or concentrate. My body was spinning out of control.”
In addition to all of these ailments, Turner also experienced post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of her association with Ike Turner. She admitted that as a result of her experience she had long-term suffering and attempted suicide.
