Tragic End to Search for Missing Mother After Chilling Message to Daughter

After being reported missing, Debbie Collier, a mother from Athens, Georgia, was discovered dead, leaving her family and friends devastated. Prior to her death, Collier sent her daughter a chilling message accompanied by a Venmo transaction of $2,385, which would ultimately be the last contact between them. The message read, “They are not going to let me go, love you.”

After Collier was reported missing, authorities were informed by her daughter, Amanda Bearden, that her mother’s car was in the shop and that she had left her house with only her driver’s license and a debit card in a rental vehicle. The rental car had a satellite radio installed, which enabled the radio company to track the car’s location to U.S. 441 at Victory Home Lane, 60 miles north of the Colliers’ Athens home. The radio company then contacted the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, who discovered Collier’s body nearby, along with a red tote bag and a partially burnt blue tarp.

Based on the missing person’s report submitted by Bearden, investigators are considering Collier’s death as a possible homicide, which may have been the result of an abduction. It is a heartbreaking end to the search for Collier, leaving her family and friends to grieve and wonder about what happened to her. It is a painful reminder that every missing person’s case is crucial, and every second counts in searching for them. Collier’s family will undoubtedly seek justice for her untimely and tragic passing, and the community will support them in their quest for answers.
