A second young girl has been killed in a horrific incident in Wimbledon, south-west London after a car crashed into a nearby school last Thursday. The metropolitan police named 8-year-old Nuria Sajjad as the second victim of this tragic event.

Selena Lau, who was also eight years old, sadly died shortly after the event. Selena was remembered as an “intelligent and sassy girl” who was “adored and loved by everyone” as they gathered to pay their respects to her at the weekend.

A Land Rover was involved in a crash that happened at The Study Preparatory School that resulted in several deaths. Many people were rushed to hospital for treatment. The seven-month-old child was taken to a hospital with injuries that were later determined to be non-life-threatening, according to police.

A total of 35 police cars were sent to the scene, which in cooperation with rescuers provided first aid to many victims of the event.

The injured woman, aged 40, is still in critical condition. The 46-year-old lady who was driving the Land Rover has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving at fault. Since then, he has been released on remand until the end of July.

After the event, she was taken to the hospital, where doctors stated that her condition was not life-threatening.

Police are asking the public to refrain from making assumptions about the incident pending an investigation as it is not believed to be terrorism-related.

At the time of the event, the school was holding a tea party at the end of the semester. The car tragically crashed into the structure after smashing through the perimeter gate of the school. 16 people were treated on the spot by paramedics who arrived in 35 police cars and 15 ambulances from the London Ambulance Service.
