Upper Sandusky, Ohio – On a fateful Sunday, a heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded at a Dollar Tree store, where 22-year-old Keris Riebel, a recently married young woman, was working. A man, later identified as 27-year-old Bethel Bekele, entered the store brandishing a machete knife and callously attacked Keris, leading to her untimely demise. According to local police reports, the assault resulted in her death, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.
Bystanders acted responsibly, immediately contacting the local police upon witnessing the horrifying attack. However, despite the swift response of the authorities and rescue teams, Keris had tragically succumbed to her injuries by the time they arrived. The suspect managed to escape the scene before apprehension.
Fortunately, the determined efforts of law enforcement led to Bekele’s eventual capture. He was found shortly afterward, seated in a parked car outside the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, seemingly ready to turn himself in for the heinous crime he had committed at the Dollar Tree.
Upon approaching the suspect, Bekele surrendered to the authorities, resulting in his arrest and subsequent charge for the murder of Keris Riebel.
Detectives are currently delving into the case, investigating whether the attack was a random act or if there was a prior connection between the victim and the perpetrator. The local community is struggling to comprehend such a violent crime taking place in their typically peaceful neighborhood.
Jordan Riebel, Keris’s devastated husband, has taken time off work to cope with the sudden and heartbreaking loss of his beloved young wife. In a gesture of support, Keris’s aunt has launched a GoFundMe campaign to seek donations from generous individuals, aiming to cover funeral expenses and compensate for Jordan’s time off work during his grieving period.
Keris, who recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, had ambitious career aspirations beyond her current employment at Dollar Tree. She and her husband were eager to start a family together, but tragically, their dreams were shattered within moments.
Remembered fondly by Wynford Local Schools, Keris was described as a beautiful soul with a heart full of faith. Her genuine kindness touched the lives of everyone she met, and her radiant smile left an indelible mark on those who knew her. The Wynford Community mourns her untimely departure and cherishes her memory forever.
