The tragic and untimely death of expectant father Ben Cann has left his family and community in shock and grief.
A 20-year-old father-to-be was fatally injured 30 minutes after learning the gender of his unborn child.
In December, British resident Ben Cann learned he was going to have a baby. He wanted to share his joy with his family and planned a gender reveal party.
On July 2, his family gathered and saw Ben and his partner release a balloon to announce they were having a daughter.
Unfortunately, Ben was injured in a two-vehicle collision and was taken to hospital barely 30 minutes after the thrilling reveal. Tragically, he died of his injuries on July 24, almost three weeks after the incident.
The Chronicle Live was told by Ben’s mother that he had the gender revealed about 20 minutes before the crash, adding that he was the light of the party and had a great day.

According to the site, Ben was on his way to becoming a certified carpenter and gave “his best shot at life, even completing his driving test during the pandemic.
The fundraising page said: “Ben has a beautiful little princess on the way. We all know he would be the most ideal father anyone could ever dream of. He was beaming with joy when that balloon popped when he found out he was carrying a baby girl.” and was surrounded by a most devoted family.
“Many people adored Ben and knew he would go above and beyond to help anyone. Now is our chance to show how much we all appreciate Ben and to bring relief to his family. Let’s give Ben a fittingly grand farewell.” he deserves it.
At the time of writing, the fundraiser has raised £2,950 ($3,780) of its £4,000 ($5,100) goal.
The number of flowers and sympathy cards that were handed out after Ben’s horrific death indicates how popular her son was, according to Ben’s mother.
Those who knew Ben are taking to social media to express their condolences. One person wrote: “Calm down young man, I have known Ben since he was a little boy and the Cann family since I moved to Dudley many moons ago and I can understand what the family are going through at this time.
