A shocking incident where a father and his young child were struck by lightning sent shockwaves through the community and left everyone devastated.
A man and his child were struck by lightning, which shocked the neighborhood. The child survived the trauma to live another month, while the father quickly died.
The boy who had endured a gallant fight for weeks had also died. Keep reading to find out everything we can.
6-year-old Grayson Boggs and his father, 34-year-old Matthew Boggs, were walking hand-in-hand down a Valley Hills driveway when tragedy struck. Both were struck by lightning, eventually killing them.
Little Grayson made it, but Matthew died instantly. His immediate destination was Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Hospital in Temple.
Despite the fact that his prognosis was grim from the start, those close to him clung to his optimism. The family has started a GoFundMe effort to give Grayson the best chance of survival.
Unfortunately, the little cub showed no signs of improvement for weeks after the May 15 incident, and on June 13, doctors advised him to be taken off life support. Grayson died three days later.
At five o’clock in the evening on May 15, 2023, Matthew went to the bus stop to pick up his boys, and that’s when a sad event happened. As the two stood at the end of the driveway listening to the storm, Elijah pulled away from them.
Elijah still remembers the exact moment he returned to his father and brother. At first, he was unable to appreciate the seriousness of the circumstances. I was pretty nervous. The 11-year-old said in the interview that Grayson was “smiling a little bit” when Elijah picked him up.
When I pulled my father in, I noticed that his face was already purple and that there was blood in the center of his skull, proving that they weren’t kidding. Matthew’s mother Angela Boggs was also present and witnessed the entire terrifying event.
In an attempt to administer CPR until emergency services arrived, she went to her son and grandson, where they were joined by their neighbors.
Grayson’s neck was reportedly physically unharmed, but doctors could not rule out brain damage.
A family friend named Stephanie Burris created a GoFundMe page and frequently updated donors on Grayson’s progress. The family was aware from the start that their child was heavily sedated and dependent on a ventilator to keep him alive.
On May 19, they announced that Grayson had suffered a significant anoxic brain injury. Doctors said Grayson would “never walk, talk, eat or see again.”
For Grayson’s family, this means that even after he gets home, he will require constant care and frequent therapy sessions. The collection’s website frequently provided updates on the little boy’s condition.
Although Grayson’s health remained stable, it was assumed that he would not improve. Today we had a care conference with Grayson’s medical team. Doctors have told us that Grayson will never fully recover from his current condition.
His mother Kayla made the difficult decision to remove him from the ventilator and register him as an organ donor. He was visited by friends and members of the Boggs family in recent days.
Please pray that God heals him and his loved ones during this difficult time so that we can give him as much comfort as possible.
Burris explained his decision by writing, “We may not know God’s plan, but we do know that he had his arms around Grayson at this moment. Grayson died the next day.”
The campaign met its goal by $2,000 and raised a total of $102,000. What a scary and sad story. Our thoughts and prayers are with Grayson and his loved ones at this difficult time. So that people can express their sympathies and spread the word.
The outpouring of love and support showed the shared grief of all those affected by this tragic story.
As the Boggs family mourns the loss of Matthew and Grayson, their loved ones are finding solace in prayer, seeking comfort and healing during this painful time. The community joins them in their prayers in hopes of providing them with some measure of comfort during this difficult time. Young Grayson’s passing is a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment with loved ones.
May Grayson’s memory live on as a testament to his strength and resilience, and may his loved ones find strength and support in the embrace of their community. Let’s spread the word and allow others to express their condolences and stand in solidarity with the Boggs family as they go through the deep grief that follows this heartbreaking loss.
