The captain featured in the National Geographic series Wicked Tuna has been killed in a boating accident.
Charlie Griffin was last seen on a boat with a friend Sunday night near the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
At 11 p.m. on Sunday, the Coast Guard was notified of two boats that left Virginia Beach but did not arrive in Wanchese, North Carolina, where their vessel required repairs.
The Virginian-Pilot was informed by Coast Guard personnel that he had not been seen or heard from since 6:15 that evening.
On Monday, the empty boat was discovered by the Coast Guard and local rescuers. When they entered, they discovered the bodies of Griffin and his dog.
As of Monday evening, the search was still ongoing for a second person who was believed to be on the way.
