Three days before her 83rd birthday, Jon Bon Jovi’s mother, Carol Bongiovi, died. Jon, 62, posted touching remarks about Carol following her death on Tuesday at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey.
“Our mother was a force to be reckoned with, her spirit and can-do attitude shaped this family,” Jon stated to PEOPLE. “She will be greatly missed.” The fan club for her son’s band was started by Carol, a former Playboy bunny. When she enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1959, she met her future husband, John Bongiovi, Sr.
After raising their kids in Sayreville, New Jersey, they moved to Holmdel, where Carol remained until her death. Holmdel Funeral Home will arrange Carol’s private funeral. Her 63-year-old spouse and their three kids, Jon, Anthony, and Matthew, survive her.
As Jon has said before, his parents gave him “incredible support” while he followed his early dream of being a musician.
He stated to The Big Issue in November 2020: “Even if you weren’t good at your craft, you could work on it if you thought you were.”

When he was seventeen, the musician talked about how his parents would take him to concerts so he could follow his dreams.”They were always supportive of me, which in retrospect, was incredible,” he stated to me. “Because I could get home at one or two in the morning and still have to be at school at eight o’clock.”
“They just said, show up on time for school, you know that is your responsibility, but pursue your dream.” Jon’s high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley, is his wife. Three sons, Jesse, Jake, and Romeo, plus a 31-year-old daughter, Stephanie, make up their family. The Sun claims that Jake wed Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown in a small, private ceremony in May 2024.
The little wedding was attended by Jon and Millie’s parents. “My grandchildren will be more English than Italian or any of my other roots!” Jon declared earlier, expressing his happiness for the wedding to The Sun. “That’s insane, right?” “Suddenly, your kids are married and discussing having grandchildren…wow!” “This is the longest chapter in my book.”
