Is it possible to change the nature of the object?
Can glass become wood? Can a simple trick resist what we know about materials? It may sound impossible, but with a little creativity and the right products, you can witness the transformation that challenges reality.
If you thought my previous project – rolling wood into galvanized metal – was impressive, wait until you see what I did this time. Watch your eyes on this glass table, because in a few steps it won’t be glass at all … Or at least it doesn’t look!
Turn the glass table into a wooden top – like magic!
Am I a magician? Maybe! I have already shared how I transformed a simple wooden box to look like a galvanized metal. Now watch how I work another illusion – this time by turning the glass table on what seems to be real wood, just before my eyes!
See “earlier”
Here is the table in its original state – not what to admire. They usually sit on my back terrace, hidden under the decorative tablecloth to disguise its outdated wavy glass top, 90 years old, nd metal legs, 80.
It was a freebie, and although I didn’t want to keep too much, my husband couldn’t pass on a lot (or for free). Over the years, it has served its purpose and organized a relatively small dinner despite its lless-than-stylishloo look.
We introduce it to the net.
All of this has changed when I received a product called Retique IT as a gift from Hometalk. This product claimed to mimic any surface wood, and I was fascinated! It probably worked on almost anything, so I thought this table – something I wasn’t too attached to – was the perfect candidate for the experiment.
Time for little magic for Handymen – pay attention to the trick!
Step 1: Wrap work Kalk
Although the net was listed on the different surfaces on which it could be used, the glass was not one of them. However, he said that it can be used on any painted surface. This is where my trustworthy challenge to the chickens of furniture came!
I grabbed a glass of driven color on chalk and covered the table, and also touched the white metal legs. It was not the smartest work, flawless, but it served its purpose – to create a surface for the net it will stick to.
Step 2: Using a network
As soon as the color of the chalk had dried up, I wiped the product off the net. At first, it was muddy brown with a slight pink undertone. At first I thought it was a last look, but then I learned that the net contains real wood fibers, which means you can cover them as natural wood. That excited me even more!
Step 3: Adding stains to wood
I had two colors of wood in the warehouse and decided to go with a lighter, strange nut. Before I put it on, I let the retina layer dry for at least two hours.
Then, using the brush, I carefully applied the stain in long, smooth strokes, according to the direction in which I wiped my strength.
Grand Revelm: “Wood” Table
And just – voilà! What once was a glass table once looked like a beautiful wooden piece. In a way, I made a stain … just in a whole new way!
Before and after transformation
Pretty cool, right? It is amazing how different products can create unique finishes, completely transform the appearance of a piece.
Finished look
Meanwhile, I changed the wood to a galvanized metal surface and now glass into wood – what is the next in my DIY magic act? You will have to hold on to find out!
Did you like this project? Stay tuned to several creative transformations!
Conclusion
This transformation proves that with low creativity and the right products, you can completely rediscover an old, outdated piece of furniture. What was once a basic glass table is now a stylish, wooden top for my terrace, everything without having to replace it!
This process was simple, fun, and surprisingly effective. Whether you are working with a piece that you are not particularly attached to or are trying to give your furniture a new look, you can experiment with products such as a net that can open endless options.
Now that I transformed glass into “wood” and wood into “metal”, who knows what my next trick for Handymen will be? Stay tuned – always around the corner is always another transformation!
