Polls Show Declining Support for Trump Amid Economic and Political Concerns
Behind confident speeches and triumphant posts on Truth Social, Donald Trump faces a growing gap between perception and reality. Recent polls suggest that Americans are increasingly skeptical of his leadership, contrasting sharply with the former president’s self-proclaimed success story.

A CNN/SSRS survey conducted October 27–30 of 1,245 U.S. adults finds Trump’s approval rating at just 37%, down sharply from 47% in mid-February. Disapproval now stands at 63%, nearly matching the lows following the January 6 Capitol riot.
Economic Concerns Dominate Public Sentiment
When asked about the country’s direction, 68% said things are going “pretty/very badly.” Rising costs and the economy topped concerns at 47%, followed by 26% citing U.S. democracy and only 10% pointing to immigration.
Public opinion on Trump’s policies is largely negative:
61% say his policies worsened the economy; 27% say they improved it.
56% believe he has damaged America’s global reputation, versus 32% who disagree.
61% feel Trump has overstepped presidential authority.
With midterm elections approaching, 41% of respondents plan to vote as a rebuke to Trump, compared to 21% who intend to support him.

Trump’s Response
Trump dismissed the poll as “fake,” accusing the media of bias in a Truth Social post, claiming that his policies have produced historic economic and foreign policy achievements.
Conclusion
The polls reveal a widening gap between Trump’s perception of his leadership and the public’s growing discontent. Americans remain concerned about economic challenges and executive overreach, highlighting that even the most confident leader faces limits when public opinion turns critical.
