Russell was born in Springfield, Massachusetts to a performing arts family. His mother, Louise Julia Russell, was a ballerina and his father, Bing Russell, was an actor.
Thanks to his talent, Russell was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 1983 for his remarkable performance in Mike Nichols’ “Silkwood.”
A health concern for Russell
There have been disturbing rumors that the “Hateful 8” actor, 65, may be dealing with a potentially catastrophic physical problem. The Globe reports that ulcers have been noted under Russell’s lower lip, which is believed to be caused by Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS).
Bowel cancer and cancer have previously been linked to this disorder. According to reports, people with PJS may have a 93 percent lifetime chance of developing cancer.
Dr. Stuart Fischer, who is not directly treating Russell, warned: “These are precancerous lesions that can become aggressive and dangerous if not treated promptly and properly.”
Dr. Gabe Mirkin, an immunologist in Maryland, agreed with Fischer’s concerns and suggested rapid testing and therapy in case PJS was the source of Russell’s sores.
